steve spedd
Hi. I have a 1966 split screen VW camper and its due an mot, i have just had a chat about it with the local mot guy and he is under the impression it will fail with the lap belts it has in. Now it passed last year but this was before i bought it. Can anyone shed any light on where i should look and if he is right? i really dont wanna have to change them...... thanks

geordie82
fairly sure that would be before 3 point seatbelts were mandatory wouldnt have thought you would have a problem
steve spedd
thats what i thought mate.... had a look and there doesnt appear to be anywhere i could fit standard ones. without drilling a hole and there is no chance im doing that... lol

Graham S
Pretty sure you are fine with the lap belts dude, can check for you tomorrrow in the book but I think its before when 3 point inertia belts were required, sometime around 1980 something. barneybrendan
if its a standard fit to said vehicle you are fine.i didnt have any belts in my mk1 cortina and never had a problem getting mot.plus your pillar wont be designed to take a belt strength wise.
