Electric window broken, easy fix or no?

Window going up then a BANG and it stops. Now window is completely open and I can't close it. I can hear the motor working when I press the button so I assume one of the belts has snapped. :(

As I am useless at this stuff myself is it something that most garages would be able to fix? Or is it something that would justify the 60 odd mile drive to Whifbitz and back?

My drivers window winder regulator went tits earlier this year. I took the door card off and found that the motor had chewed up the wound metal bands as it was turning. If the wires snapped, then you'll need a replacement window winder regulator - second hand from Kieron, maybe £40.

You need to take the door card off to check - that's pretty easy. To remove the WWR itself, well that can be a bit tricky for your first time. You'll have to take off the speakers and door handle from memory.

You'll need to unbolt the WWR grips from the window, then take out the bolts of the WWR itself. There's the motor section in the centre, then there's four sets of bolts holding in the runners on either side of the motor. You will have to take the whole WWR through the large gap in the door skin that's behind the speakers area (from memory).
