Tony
that lil stretch is near my house, popular place for street racing. not near houses etc. i have a suspicion it was intentionally done by adults, smart adults. Where is that road then? as i dont think i live far from you

imi
Where is that road then? as i dont think i live far from you reading the other thread it seems like it is this road (Royal Albert) http://passionford.com/forum/5047586-post124.html If so, then this is 2 mins away from my family home and I can tell you that the road is like new, no potholes, dual carriageway albeit 40mph limit, wide and mainly straight (other than a couple of half roundabouts) - not a residential area and never any sign of pedestrians. A good safe road tbh. There tends to be police on that road with laser guns as it is well known for street racing. Adnan - do you live in docklands as that road is in Newham (E16) imi EDIT - just to add - Newham council is on that road too and plenty of CCTV cameras - about time to put them to some use and catch the murderers........ BazzaAlpine
Can you beleive that this hasn't even been put in the public eye? Not one mention that I can find on news sites Hoping the lad that was paralised gets better. Could be something as simple as a pinched / bruised nerve. They did say he was starting to get feeling back in his arms.

Adnan isn't far from where I used to be, and I was E15 (Adnan is towards Ilford I think). Funny how fast word spreads - won't be long until a name comes out amongst the car tuning scene I reckon. V. horrible thing to have done.
Abz
imi I know what road that is, it is about 10 minute drive from my house! I've been on that road hundreds of times! This is not near any houses, more like it is near an airport! Also the Excel centre is not too far away! This has a massive long straights (dual carriageway) and a couple of roundabouts (closed ones though). This road does have walls on either sides of the road at some points hence why the accident looks so bad. This is a 40mph road, though image a mother with kids or new learner having a blowout at 40mph and right next to them is a wall, I doubt many would be able to save themselves. Regardless of his speed this is outrageous, this could have killed any innocent family! RIP Joe
imi
this could have killed any innocent family! It has and I agree - the road is safe albeit not the unforgiving concrete walls. like has been said - no report of this in the news.....very strange. Pixelfill
Looks like the thread has been locked away from public eyes, Has anyone seen any further info - has it appeared on local news yet? Mike
jonathanc
Last I've read one bloke is doing well and expected to be discharged this weekend and another is responding well to treatment. I think he is in a wheelchair? It's in the Chingford local news I think. Also a Youtube of the crash. Not a very good one but it's taken virtually seconds before the crash. Willson
No mention of nails here: http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/wfnews/8338404.CHINGFORD__Man__23__killed_in_car_crash/ A 23-year-old man from Chingford has died following a car crash in Beckton. Police say the white Ford Sierra Cosworth he was driving crashed into a wall just before 1am on Sunday (August 15). No other vehicles were thought to be involved in the smash, which happened at the Cyprus roundabout in Royal Albert Way. The man, who died later in the day in hospital, has not been formally identified, but his family have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held today. The two other men in the car, believed to be aged in their 20s, were taken to a north London hospital suffering from "serious" injuries. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage on 0208 597 4874. Rob
some speed eh, police say after hitting the curb and lamppost the skid marks left was approx 70mph, the estimated speed of the accident was 140 mph, one passenger has a crushed spine not broke but crushed, he cant move at all but has full consciousness and knows what is going on but just cant move. (total paralysis) the other passenger has broke more bones that i can mention but should recover. the poor driver died. rip. the passengers were worried sick during the race and even put on there seatbelts, they were telling the driver to slow down but it was to late. the spike in the road scenario has yet to be proven but the estimated speed is fact (140mph). the driver thought it would never happen to him as he was the best driver around. like the rest of us are eh.. rip joe. rumour has it that the brakes were faulty and the driver knew of this but this will come out in the wash. watch this space.. rip. again,, and the rest of you take head.. this can happen to any one of you.. slow down think of there families, the guy who is paralysed was due to move in his new flat this week with his girlfriend,, there life's are now in ruins. rip.. As yet, I can't find out where this quote came from. Was it on that thread before it got removed?
Rob
sry but this has come from the police and one of the survivors. as i say watch this space for updates. the guy with the crushed spine has been moved to a spinal hospital and will be there for about a year, i do hope not but this is from the hospital, and things dont look good for him at all. but i will like to say thanks to the people who were at the scene who pulled the 3 occupants out of the burning car, Its from the replacement thread, which is meant to be just RIP type posts, but the discussion is threatening to start up again. Edited, I've no idea who that is yet. He seems to be a police officer, but others are caling fake.
MrRalphMan
I used to drive up and down that road going to and from work all the time, shocking stuff. Also it's a quite a busy road for commuters into London. Wonder if this was the first time this had been tried, or if people had been lucky before. As others said, a dual carriageway, without any houses directly on it but not sure how close the housing is off to the sides though. Hope the monster who did this get caught and punished for this. dangerous brain
Its from the replacement thread, which is meant to be just RIP type posts, but the discussion is threatening to start up again. Edited, I've no idea who that is yet. He seems to be a police officer, but others are caling fake. Won't be police with spelling and grammar as bad as that. I'd be tempted to believe that the glued down screw was a bit of a red herring. The fact that the speed may have been close to 140ish would be significantly contributory to a death in an enclosed area like that. Looks like an effective method of flattening a tyre quickly. Those plasterboard screw fixings are hollow down the centre to allow another screw to be screwed into them. They are however on a whole made from butter ie very soft metal and IMO the expanding foam filler that picture dictates blobbed onto the road wouldn't hold the screw upright when contacted by the tyre. That said it might hold it still enough for the rotation of the tyre to drag it in. I'm still not sure if it would pass through a decent tyre or get folded flat. Guest adam b
right! exactly, somebodys thinking what im thinking.... that looks like no more nails holding that screw to the rd.. i use it on the roofs.. down right MURDER if you ask me ,it was well planed, and done by a adult.. miners would be hard pushed to find such screws. and mastic isent cheap. jonathanc
140mph... The quote does sound a bit vindictive and really doesn't sound like a cop though. There was another cop in the original thread but he typed more sensibly I had a look on Google maps and indeed its a long straight with a curve in the middle. He must've lost control trying to brake into that. Was the driver not wearing seatbelts?
Rob
Was the driver not wearing seatbelts? Unknown, but the girl who was posting, Rachel, amazingly said this whole affair had made her think more and that she'd never really understood the whole seatbelt thing, ie what good they do. Are there really people out there that thick? I can understand young lads full of bravado not wearing seatbelts as they think they will never crash and that psychologically putting on a seatbelt is an admission of self-doubt, as crazy as that seems, but has this girl never wondered why her parents always belted up and told her to? Has she never seen cop shows where people get ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt? Its all very odd, young people.
Chris Wilson
I think older people are the worst for not wearing a seat belt. I know I often forget or don't bother, and people of an even older age than myself () are often worse than I am.
