Digsy
Bloody hell. "The armour and swords in games should be deemed as private property as players have to spend money and time for them," Wang Zongyu, an associate law professor at Beijing's Renmin University of China, was quoted as saying. ...or alternatively, just get a life? roboldham
Hmmm.... not really. IF you have worked long and hard for something, no matter if it is real or virtual and then it is taken away from you then you may become angry. What if you trained for 5 years as an athlete, focussing on the ultimate prize for your chosen discipline, a gold medal say? Say you wont it and then one night your nearest competitor broke in, stole it for themselves? What if that medal was only worth a few quid - you may still get angry and go and teach the person a lesson eh? To most people the medal would be worthless, however to you it is not.... As more and more things become "virtual" - bank accounts for example, stock markets another - so what if the "token" is stored on a hard disk somewhere? These things still have "value" in certain contexts therefore will cause the usual human possesiveness and all its trappings. It's an interesting development - quite a few "virtual" items have value these days and will become more so. We will definitely need more subtle laws and rules to accommodate this as time goes on. Digsy
I actually had to read it several times before I was sure that he had actually killed the guy in real life.
