WILLGILL
right I'm bored with them now here are my list of niggles from the top, please identify and fix them tout suite any help is appreciated 1. when reversing on full lock I get a clunk clunk noise, fine going forward and turning etc.. some times when I turn the steering at stand still the steering wheel judders?? 2. Car stalls a lot from cold, will not idle at all and I have to manually hold the revs, once its warmed up it sits on 900 rpm sweet as a nut 3. passenger side door window gets jammed when shutting the door, not a major issue I'm just wondering if the door is slightly loose as it films a lot more flimsy than the drivers side 4. My speedo/odo does not read miles incorrectly for example I drove to my house in Cornwall which I know for a fat to be 380 miles away and when I get there the trip distance reports 285 miles. This might explain why I only get 150 miles to a tank That's it, any advice welcomed, over and out

AJI
Number 4 sounds like a good point when it comes to selling your car on. 3. When you say jammed when shutting door do you mean it gets caught up in the rubber roof frame around the door? If so it is an easy job to get the door re-aligned. You can get it raised or lowered to solve the problem. I had my driver door raised by 1mm so it didn't catch on side-skirt body-kit. 2. Has your car been modified? If so I would only be guessing at problems and wouldn't be much use. Is your oil suitable for low temperatures? 1. Power steering fluid/pressure/belt? Could be one of those issues. Also front shocks as mentioned before. I'm sure other people on here will come up with other potential problems, as I'm not fantastic on the inner workings of the engine etc. Got a good grasp of the basic stuff though so I hope I've been of some help. Rob
Chris W gave the definitive answer to no.1, when reversing at full lock, the "geometry" of the tyres turning will eventually force one to "skip"slightly on the ground, causing this knocking noise. Mine always does it in cold weather, maybe because the tyres are cold and slip easier. The judder when turning whilst stationary is also normal, you may notice your revs drop as well as the engine is trying to power the steering. It may even nearly stall. Turning the wheels when stationary puts extra strain on the system and you shouldn't really do it, but thats far easier said then done.
WILLGILL
ah good that's one thing less to worry about, how about the 9 foot flames coming from my petrol tank or the constant smoke from my footwell ?? thanks for your help guys
Paul
No 1, go to my post on Knocking/reverse full lock, as I think mine is now cured. Paul
Thorin
4. Yup mine's the same, I've worked out that for every mile the Odo' displays it's actually done 1.363636 miles (caculated by counting how many 100 yard motorway marker posts it went past, 24 of em). I would prefer to get it sorted although it would make it more attractive when it comes to selling it. What's likely to be the cause anyone know? Thorin
Originally posted by Matt Harwood Are you sure that's not 1.36363635? Sorry:stupid: Quite sure 24 * 100 yard markers = 2400 yards, which is 1.363636 miles

Rob
Hmmmm, well just for a moment it seems like it's gonna stall, and I always blip the throttle to catch it. I'll leave it , the next time, and see what happens.
IceMan
My car sometimes tries to stall on cold mornings as the idle revs are well below normal and it sounds like the engine ain't firing properly. However if I immediately turn off then reignite the car it usually settles correctly - otherwise the car stalls when rolling in low gear out of my driveway. Why?
