Noob question about email on HTC Desire...

I am using the default Mail app on the Desire to check my Yahoo! mails but I noticed that it will mark my mails as read on the server so when I log to the web email account to check all mails appear as Read.

Is there a way to stop it doing that? I can't seem to find it in the options. Sometimes I miss important mails when I check them in the evenings on the PC.

Not sure as I use Google Mail, but am happy with that behaviour.

If it was set up automatically by the phone, then it's probably using ActiveSync to connect, which means that this will always happen.

You could delete the account and connect using POP3, depends if you want/need push mail or not.

Go to receive settings and turn off delete on server

Aye, its off mate. I think delete on server will just delete the emails read or fetched on the phone.

It's nothing major really but I sometimes miss important mails through the phone. I will look into the POP3 thingy.

I am with Yahoo! Mail Plus so I can setup POP3 access. Just not sure if that's possible with Desire. If I am not mistaken there's a "Mark Mail as unread" feature using POP3.

I have a similar problem.

Set my (NTL) pop3 home email account up on the Desire and if I receive them on the desire they will not come through back at home on the PC.

And delete on server is turned off.

Whats weird is I have the exact same settings on another account (Freeserve, think its now orange)on the phone and they always come through back at home on the PC.

Dont know why it does it. If I have something important I need to keep on the NTL account that I received on the Desire I just forward it to my FS account. Ballache but at least I still have a copy of the mail.
