Suprab1
Just thought i'd share what just happend Me, the woman & her mum were in the living room watching the A-team movie. My woman got tired & said she was going to bed & off she went upstairs. Next thing she was screeming down at me that it was flying at her & her mum went running up. I was down stairs laughing because it's always the same at night if a moth gets in & thats what i thought it was. Next her mum was shouting at me so i ran up to find a bat flying around up stairs . So everyone's gone to bed now & i've been watching this little lad for a while & he's the coolest little thing. What should i do now though? Leave him & open a window to see if he goes out himself or try catching him & putting him out? I don't want to hurt the little lad though. Paul
Some of them carry RABIES !! Only handle it with gloves as the little f*cker might bite you. A guy I worked with boxed one up and phoned bat rescue (or something like that) and the 'expert' asked him to describe it, he open the box and handled it and it bit him.Only then the guy said it possibly carried rabies and he should have worn gloves He spent many weeks going to the hospital to have anti-rabies jabs afterwards. They are just so tiny. Glad you got him out safely. My cat would've got him if I had one at mine, so lucky there.
kill1308
Haha cool, when I was younger I was scared sh*tless as a bat flew though my window while I was lying in bed watching TV. It flew around the room for a second then landed on top of my wardrobe in a towel. Went over and gingerly picked the towel up expecting it to start flying around again, but it happily sat in the towel and I was able to put it outside. Funny little things aren't they! Yeah i thought i would go one better than the hovis Yes, and you have neither What a cute bat. They are just so tiny. Glad you got him out safely. My cat would've got him if I had one at mine, so lucky there. Yeah they look small when they are just sitting there but when they are flying around they look much bigger. I'd say from wing to wing he was around 10 inches. He nearly landed on my face a few times & when he was that close he looked like a dinosaure . Yeah he was the same, didn't want to move of the picture frame. I brought him outside & sat with him for around 10 mins but he just sat there. I put a hanger up in the garage to hang the frame on so he would be safe but he had flew away when i came back.
Rob
Die Fledermaus! The stuff in one of Dawkin's books about bats and their use of echo location is fascinating. I think it was Blind Watchmaker, about the divergence of evolution and how we, as sighted beings would think it was strange to use sound, but apparently bats can "see" much more info about their surroundings eg, which materials are hard and soft, liquid and so forth. Presumably, unlike a moth or even a bird which would 'bat' itself to death on the glass, if you left a fanlight open the bat would easily find its way out again.
