Geo
my water temps go from 85-95(then my fan kicks in to bring it back down to 85), my oil temp stays constant at 90 i think?
Terminator
The best way to cool down the car is by driving it more gently for a while so that every thing cools gently and evenly. The owners hand book has some recommendations regarding engine cool down periods. These are worth knowing as this often gets overlooked when pulling into motor way services. Rummy
I've got a defi water temp guage and mine stays around 100, occassionally creeping up a few degrees. The guage on the clocks is still "normal" - almost points in line with the top of low fuel light. Is that too high?
Terminator
Not sure of the accuracy of after market gauges so tend not to trust them. My car on the rollers at SSR, (so working very hard) saw steady 80 water temps and 90 oil, at all times according to Ryan, those readings would have been taken from stock sensors not my gauges, which I think were reading higher. I only remember it because Ryan commented on how stable the temps had been during the mapping session, 700+ bhp.
skyludeboy
in traffic my water temps could creap up to 85 but on motoway or clear road they stay around 73 degrees, same with oil hard driving 90 degrees, and cruizing around town motorways etc, solid 80-85 degrees
Suprab1
My oil temp sits at about 105 normal & 110 when driving hard.
Terminator
My oil temp sits at about 105 normal & 110 when driving hard. As long as that is below the sheer temperature of the oil you are using, it should be OK. However you might want to consider an oil cooler. dcarrter21
my water seems to sit around 80 and oil around 75. think i should be fine with my fan aswell! cheers
add heywood
All depends on where the sensors are located. My water temps are around 80 c all the time, but on the power fc commander it's always a few degrees lower. Oil temp only ever got to about 65c after spirited driving until i realised they had put the sensor directly after my oil cooler
bodilx6
If you are using good oil it should be able to take up to 130c. But I would start letting off before then. If you push your car a lot on track/high speed, get a good oil cooler.
