V
I dont get any cool air whatsoever, but I used to not long ago and has also been very good. The compressor kicks in, but I also get a hissing noise from the passenger foot well. Would this suggest a major leak? I looked at the diagnostics and I get a flashing DEF light pointing to the Solar Sensor, although would the air con still work to some degree even if this sensor fails? SteveC
If you had a major leak and lost all the gas, then I'm pretty sure the compressor wouldn't kick in at all. You've probably just lost some gas over a period of time and so the system isn't working so good. Best bet is to get it tested on an air-con machine - and re-gassed is necessary. Re the solar sensor, did you spot the following in the manual: If the check is being performed in a dark place, the LED for DEF (solar sensor circuit abnormal) could be blinking. Graham S
Hissing noise when turned on means it verging on being almost empty... compressor won't kick in at all if its empty but will if its very low... How long ago was it last re-gassed?
V
SteveC, yes i saw that, i did the check in good daylight. Graham S, It has never been re-gassed, but has always been very good. I'll take it in to get checked over. Hopefully just the gas.....
Terminator
It has never been re-gassed, but has always been very good. That is amazing. Sounds like it has just gone low enough to not perform but still enough to meet the pressure threshold for the switch. You may need compressor oil adding too, if the system has never been touched. V
What!! are saying every 10years my air con will need re-gassing!!! would you believe it? :D Will do, thanks
Guest mike6187
I would unplug the two pin A/C low pressure switch and jump the two terminals in the connector. If the A/C compressor clutch kicks on then you have a bad A/C Low Pressure Switch. If it doesn't then there is a power supply problem with the system. I would try swapping the A/C relays with known good relays to eliminate them as a possibility.
