Swampy442
Cool, whereabouts? I heard that Oxon police had 87 mobile units.

Septic
Lucky sod! There were too many cameras littered in odd places in Oxfordshire anyways. Now if only the rest of the country followed suit
keener
Just heard this morning on the local news that they did a quick check on speeding in Oxfordshire and instances were up 90%!! I guess it was the BBC that did the test rather than the police or there would be much more fuss!!

caseys
All the *fixed* cameras are off. Doesn't mean you won't have a camera van or mobile camera etc...
Ian C
Up 90% of what? Careful with those sadistics! Precisely: "The number of drivers speeding past Oxfordshire's deactivated speed cameras has increased by up to 88%, a road safety partnership claim." So the source of the stats are biased, skewed, and probably in fact "made completely up" if it's from one of those fascist bunches. Also apparently they did a quick shufty at all of two out of SEVENTY TWO sites and now claim solid data for all cameras ever Lying toads. I see they also bleat straight away about "well this means more deaths then, it's a scientific certainty", so errr how many accidents or even near misses did you see on those two roads as a result? Would that be..... none at all?

It's the government propaganda machine otherwise known as the BBC doing its level best to instill shock tactics so people campaign for the reinstatement of scameras and thus the reopening of a revenue stream that authorities can't do without. Purity14
I wouldnt trust them though, id still drive past them with caution. They could turn them on ANY time, and rake in huge gains during the first month. Seriously..

While I admire your cynicism, I find it odd that scameras are being turned off because of budget cuts? If they raked in the cash as we expected, surely we'd see one at the end of every driveway? Is this because the cash generation mechanism bypassed the council who paid to run them, and just went straight into Gordon Brown's pockets to spunk on christ only knows what waste of cash that week? From what I heard on the radio this morning that sounds about right. Why not just leave one switched but don't tell anyone which one it is. Oi! Don't be applying sensible ideas in an open forum, they might do it!
