Abz
Off! My neighbours won't be getting me a Christmas card this year! Right, at work so can't tell you which model it is but it is a Laserline Cat 1 alarm which also has full enclosure so locks the windows when you alarm it, the keyfob has 2 buttons of which I only use one to alarm/un-alarm. The problem is recently it seems to keep going off randomly when the car is alarmed. I have had a look at the alarm under the bonnet and the only thing the alarm has a keyhole under a rubber cover I did some reading and a couple mentioned about disconnecting the battery but then I am thinking it might be more to do with my ultrasonics (Them things which look like mini camera's in the corner of the B pillars). I noticed a couple of times walking away from the car and you could hear the faint beeping inside the car, almost like somebody is inside the car. Anyone had a similar problem or know what steps I could take to resolve this? Many thanks in advance. Abz

nevins
Common problem is spiders taking up residence in the ultrasonics fella, I have had this so many times. An easy way to test this and to see if the sensitivity is too high is to locate the module and disconnect the two plugs for the sensors. If this cures the problem, its due to either the spider theory, or another frequent one is air fresheners that dangle on a string. If the wind catches the car, the freshener swings and hey presto alarm goes off. Test out this first before blaming the alarm. Also how high is the sensitivity set at if its hign then this will cause phantom soundings.
Abz
go to the person who fitted it for you;) I would if I could, but one of the previous owners had it fitted, a while back it seems. Or is the module you are talking about the one in the bonnet? If is all it seems to have is a key hole and nothing else apart from the siren. No ways I believe to turn down the sensitivity from there, I'll have another look as I could have missed something.
nevins
The module should be under the dash, Easiest way to find it is trace back along the wires for either the led warning light, or the ultrasonics them selves. The key on the alarm sounder is to turn the alarm off.
Gambit
The key under the bonnet is to turn the siren down/off. If when you shut the car and press the alarm it gives of something like 4/5 beeps something is not registering as shut. Lift the bonnet and hold down the bonnet closure sensor, probably looks like a black plastic button with brass surround located at the front most likely. Now lock the car, if you don't get the beeps, then the bonnet isn't holding it down enough.... probably not shut properly.
madwoody1
or it could have corrosion on the pin of the bonnet switch that could give you a fault every now and then
