I found some useful information about this shape at this page: http://www.clowder.net/hop/Riemann/Riemann.html

 

...or in other words, I found that website first and used the info there to generate the shapes, then worded the explanation to make myself sound smart by suggesting it was the other way around.

 

 

 

...or am I being cynical? ;)
