Lbm
Ok my budget for you. 1. Ring £115 (inc VAT) 2. Slap up meal at Maccy D's £15 (eating in of course) 3. Nice 2 line lucky dip lottery ticket presented nicely in a Clinton's card £3.95. (Here's the breakdown £2 + £1.95) 4. Suprise tin of corned beef, gift wrapped. (personally, I'd just nick this from a Supermarket, save on money etc) Sub total £133.95 Umm, trying to think if there's anything else... No.
dr_jekyll
i know its rediculous and im not rich by any means, but i think she deservs it , shes come froma struggle and she never asks for anything . i saw here looking at it in the window last year and i thaught nothing els would do. and i only intend on doing it once so why not. thers more important things in life than money and allthough i know shel be extatic just for the propasal regardless of the ring, i know in my mind that if it was another one it wouldnt be what she really wanted. its staying in the safe untill christmas anyways so who knows what will happen from now untill then. Just as a side note as rings go it is a craker the detail in it is impressive , ill take a pic next time im in the safe
martini
I kinda new what choice i had made when i posted the thread, i was hoping everybody would say " go with the ring " just to make me feel better.... ah well You're asking on a Supra Owners Club, try asking the audience of "Loose Women" and I'm sure you'll have a better response. Only if I was earning silly money would I consider spending that much on a ring. I'd much rather spend the money on things we can both enjoy, such as holidays, or supras i know its rediculous and im not rich by any means, but i think she deservs it , shes come froma struggle and she never asks for anything . i saw here looking at it in the window last year and i thaught nothing els would do. It's very sweet of you, and each girl to their own, but I know my girlfriend would prefer a holiday over a ring... but then we'd not have a big wedding at all (only immediate family, no super expensive dresses or suits), as being together and spending money on things we can do together means more to us than spending money on a 'big day' or on a piece of jewellery. martini
and put the money towards the wedding. or a honeymoon. they are not cheep ether! whats the point bancrupting yourself on an engagement ring if you cant afford to get married Personally, I think it's a waste spending the money on a "big day" anyway. Honeymoons FTW.
Scott
Home bills and supra bills obviesly Not to mention brothel bills Mate, I can guarantee you that those days are gone. If a girl looks to the size of the diamond to see how much love is in your relationship then the relationship is finished. I could have proposed with a polo mint.... the mint with the hole.... and I would still be where I am today. Nowadays, it is the thought and the feeling that goes into it all. I'll be straight with you all. My Wife proposed to me. She proposed with a metal pebble, "Will You Marry Me?". Of course I still have it, and of course we went ring shopping straight away. My Wife picked the one she liked the look of.... not the one with the big diamond. I feel we are rock solid..... unless Kate Beckinsale has became available? Lbm
Ah the old Kate Beckinsale exit strategy option. Sneaky, yet tasteful.

edge
£4k Thats roughly 4 - 6 months rent/mortgage. Alot of brass Auto TT Quite a few years worth of car insurance Plus with economy they way it is i'd keep most of that in a good savings account just incase of job loss etc. Having some savings in the bank takes away alot of stress or Have a good holiday and get a ring with the change. My other halfs brother is a jeweller so we are picking the rings we like and getting them made for a fraction of the cost, i know diamonds aint cheap but try it with some small jewellers and i bet they can give you a huge saving for something identical. I have a couple of rings he made that i paid about £300 for and had them valued at a local place at about £1500 each.
