Buy her a £200 ring & tell her if you love me then the price tag don't matter! Then sell the NA-T for the 6 Speed Single! She should share your passion of cars. Mine wouldn't let me sell my Supra to help towards my wedding, she told me to find other ways to stump up the extra cash.

So I raced NOS for pinks :D

i spent 10k on a ring 2.carrats was blue in the face with clarity colour etc that was wholesale had a friend from weirs look at it 40k it would sell for there is a serious mark up on diamonds. in this day and age some of you guys are so lucky that love is more important then material things and any woman thats happy with a 200 pound ring is a keeper. to be fair to my X we had i thought had a head start as in she had a house before i met her and this ring rocked her boat were all guilty of some expence in our lifes cars are mine. lost 3 k returning the ring.

Yeah a million pounds is a bit much lol. That said having seen pictures of the inlaws gaff you'd better start saving now mate. Good job traditionally the brides father pays for the wedding I guess :)

I have been married to Leigh for two years now, and i did spend 3 months wages, it was a bad 3 months though:D

Tradition is to spend 3 months salary on the wifes to be engagement ring.

I under the impression it was 1 month salary. Did your wife say it was 3 months by any chance?

Edit: good old Wiki: I'm wrong. "The idea that a man should spend two to three months' personal wages for an engagement ring originated from De Beers marketing materials in the early 20th century, in an effort to increase the sale of diamonds.[1] In 2007, the average cost of an engagement ring in USA as reported by the industry was US$2,100.[5]"

cheers for all the input guys lol.

the ring was a blue note under 4k.

i had 5 saved towards the car but it seems thats not going to happen now as the next hardcore saving spree is going to be for a house deposit . i suppose im at that time now where im stuck with the car i have and other things become more important ,

still i do love the car i have so it could be worse :)

I kinda new what choice i had made when i posted the thread, i was hoping everybody would say " go with the ring " just to make me feel better.... ah well

Unless this Girl actually passes golden stools, I still think TT6.

But I am pretty selfish, and number 1 always comes first.

Ps, if she knows that you chose her ring over a car.. you will be wrapped around that said finger for the rest of your days. And if you ever throw it back in her face, the relationship is over. They are so predictable. Rant over :D

fookin hell mate. 4k for a ring jeweler saw you coming! And im guessing as your saying you were saving 5 for the car that you didnt just find 4k down the back of the sofa and it probably took a while to save that. That much money for a ring is mental.

sell the ring. get one that isnt as stupidly expensive and materialistic but still nice. and put the money towards the wedding. or a honeymoon. they are not cheep ether! whats the point bancrupting yourself on an engagement ring if you cant afford to get married :p

I don't want to state the obvious but 4k for a ring is a mighty sum of money to spend when you don't have lots in the bank.

My missus and I made do with the small things when we first got together and then we've branched out over the years as our finances became healthier.

Marriage is tough enough these days without inducing more pressure by spending loads of dosh on a ring;)
