Taxed per mile - You What!

Shovels

Recommended Posts

Saw this on the news the other night about introducing a road tax system where you get charged for every mile you travel, charges vary according to how busy the road you are travelling on.

Now is it just me or have they not thought this one through properly?

OK... I get charged heavily for using motorways, etc. So I don't use motorways, instead I travel down country lanes and through towns and villages because it's much less taxed..... Ummm. surely that's more pollution and more dangerous. I'll be passing more schools and built up areas, etc.

I get charged less for fuel.....Ummm that sounds good, lets all get even bigger engined cars... My soop running at 15MPG and cheap fuel :ecstatic: - lets all go out and buy large luxury fuel guzzlin' motors!....Cause that's gonna really benefit everyone.

For years they've been trying to get everyone to run more effecient cars, putting up fuel prices has caused the majority of people to buy small cars which do a zillion miles per gallon.

Ohhh yeh and there gonna be tracking everyone via satalite! No more speeding then! *cough* *cough* not that I would do such a thing.

:swear:
