jackso11
Manual conversion time soon... There are loads of threads on this but I can't find one that exactly answers my question. Would a Pre-facelift LSD Auto TT diff be ok with a v161 gearbox when doing a manual conversion? or would I need to replace the diff too. Also, am I right in thinking that not all facelift diffs are LSD? I am timing you experts on this one
Nic
Yes it'll be fine to use. Not sure if the final drive gearing is different though on the auto, if it is then it will effect the gearing, hopefully someone will be along shortly to confirm. jackso11
I think the gearing will give me a bit quicker acceleration with this diff, there are so many different types though I am not too sure!
jimmenico
I have also been digging around for info on diff/box variations for my 6-speed conversion. From what I understand, the diff you have would be fine (it is the smaller size casing?). Also, the effects of the different gear box/diff combinations can be checked here: gear ratio calculator
jackso11
perfect. So I will use the original diff. the clutch in a v161 should be fine shouldn't it? I read that NAs had the v161 in aswell, I am guessing it had the same clutch as the TT with a v161 in though..?
