The Raven
He better get in on it fast and make the quick buck before the bubble bursts They said about loft and cavity wall, still doing that after 30 years. ISIS wont work, they need a good grant system. Takes the people that make these kind of things work a good few years to get stuff together. In an ideal world. My company would be fitting loft, cavity wall and solar to each house we come to see. However, try going to a house and saying. Cavity wall? £150 and a grant for £200 loft? £150 and another grant for £200 Solar? 10k please. You see where the issue is. It will come to pass in time that the same system in place now will be used. The grant needs to make installing this worth while.
Matt H
They said about loft and cavity wall, still doing that after 30 years. Insulation will always be a neccessity. The method of collecting energy changes.
Purity14
Of course it hasn't, because the modern world is still in its infancy. I don't believe there will be never be a balance. You only have to take the western worlds and how they have progressed themselves. Equality progresses and progresses. There’s one big cake that we all eat from, and one day, instead of the west taking the lions share, our portions will get smaller until there’s more of a balance. The excess won’t always continue, that’s what the problem is. It will take a long, long time, after my life time, but it will get there - as long as some other problem doesn't stop up, i.e not sorting our alternative engery source in time Why dont you just wait until the Rapture, I cant wait to fly around watching everyone else dying. Jesus and I will laugh heartedly together about it. Ps you dont have genitals in heaven.
The Raven
Insulation will always be a neccessity. The method of collecting energy changes. Possible, but you have to understand they way things work. The current grant funding is coming from the energy companys, EON, NPOWER SSE B/G ect. They give me money to spend fitting insulation, i then exchange the work for the money. They convert the work into carbon points. They have a set number of points to get each year or they face stupidly high fines from the goverment. You may have seen free light bulbs? loft rolls for sale at stupid prices? This is them panicing about the end of year points tally. Now as we draw on say 7 years time? the number of homes left that need cavity wall and loft insulation will drop. However the goverment are not about to pat these people on the back and say "nice job for that you can now keep all that profit" They will be forced in to one of two things Give cavity wall away for free, to everyone or Start funding for another way to save carbon in thier customers homes. Ground source heat pumps? Wont work on this kind of scale. Solar is the way forward. IMO

IMO So the flavour of the month is Solar, but it's just not efficient enough in its current form. The costs vs benefit isn't good enough. I quess what you're saying is its a tick box exercise for the energy company though, which is a different ball game I quess.

Quite right, as it stands costs vs benefit does not work. Unless you are using someone elses money in which case you dont care.
ivan
No it's not, my mother's in the garden. So's my Dad, we scattered his ashes on his lawn. Not long afterwards Mum paved it over - I'm sure she was worried he'd come back.
