Attero
My clutch is squeaking from where the clutch meets the gearbox. A garage I went to greased inside the gearbox and it fixed it... for a total of 5 minutes. I'm wandering what is causing it, how much it will cost for a new part, and how much I'd be looking at to get it fitted. It's really bugging me and with all this squealing and squeaking in my car, I don't know how much longer I can handle it! What's your suggestions... it sounds a bit like this and from the same place: Us_xcv5eGlY
jonc
3 thing spring to mind:- 1. Release bearing-but I would suspect this would only squeal when the clutch is rotating and only when you press the clutch pedal 2. Clutch slave cylinder worn-but the noise did not sound like it was coming from there, although that is difficult to tell without being there with you 3. Pressure plate is worn-which is what it sounded like to me. If it is the pressure plate you had just as well change the whole clutch and release bearing in one:). Sorry cant help about prices as I have never changed a Supra clutch
Purity14
Ive only sat in two supras that havent squeeked when operating the clutch. Cant you just embrace the squeek and just learn to love your car instead?
Rinus
I changed my whole clutch, with all the parts and it squeaked... Through the inspection hole I sprayed a bit wd40 on the bush that pulls the release bearing, and squeaking is gone by me...

I'm actually not sure. But the garage have sprayed some solution into it several times but it keeps coming back rather quickly.
martini
I have a clutch squeak too - hoping someone at 'Pod can diagnose it. Clutch itself feels great - just an embarrassing noise
Rinus
I did spray it there Not on the pressureplate though...

Clutch itself feels great - just an embarrassing noise I wouldn't mind seeing your car and having a look at SupraPod if that's alright with you? I'm getting Toyota to have another look at it on thursday. They are going to tell me what exactly is going on with it, and hopefully quote me for a fix. They said it will cost hundreds - the typical for a clutch/gearbox repair. They said however that the clutch and gearbox is fine and that what is fine should not be fixed. I just find it a heavy annoyance to my ears and brain.

nevins
I thought this was just the arm needing to be greased .

Attero
I've already greased it three times. Doesn't work.
Kirk
Its a box out job to grease the fork properly unless you have realy thin and bendy arms and like to struggle with a letterbox hole Edited August 10, 2010 by Kirk (see edit history)
nevins
thought as much as its on the pivot point inside aint it.
Kirk
It is yes but the other problem you have is the release bearing, you maybe able to get it off through the inspection hole and get the fork out but good luck trying to put it back on. nevins
I would stay away from spraying wd40 in through the inspection hole unless you want to contaminate the clutch plate, a good example is spray it on your brake pads and try to stop. lol. Attero
The garage didn't use WD-40. They used this other kind of spray inside and said it's perfectly fine to use what they did. I asked what it was, and they couldn't find it to tell me (they seemed to just know what they were doing) but that's two different garages that have done the same thing. Anyone know how much roughly this would cost to fix? £100-200? £200-300?, etc.
Kirk
They will charge you the labour of doing a clutch i suspect as its pretty much the same job except in your case you wouldnt be replacing the clutch. Id say £200 + depending on who does it.
nevins
if you can live with it for now have it done when your clutch is done next.
