MizTheWiz
OK i have had my car since 2003 and every year i have to go through this for the mot. car came with a stand alone fog light that is bolted to the bottom of the rear bumper. its on for the mot and then removed for normal driving. but this year it wont work ggrrrr. have replaced bulb but no joy. Also have noticed that the lights on buzzer has stopped working and the lights behind the dials are out. This fog light was attached to the car when i purchased it so no idea how its wired. is there a fuse somewhere that protects the dial lights and buzzer.....? pezzler
Sounds like a fuse has blown, I think there is a fuse for the dash lights in the footwell, the rear fog modification is normally spliced into the same circuit Might be worthwhile checking whatever switch has been fitted, the switch might be the cause of the blown fuse

If you have 12v at the fitting then it can only be something very simple. You've ruled out the bulb so it can only really be bad contact between the bulb and holder, or no ground connection between the outer part of the holder and the car body. Do you have a multi meter, or even a small bulb with wires attached you can use as a tester?
MizTheWiz
problem sorted it was a bad earth connection. traced back to dimmer switch on dash board. this is where the fog light had been wired from by the guy who sold me the car many years ago. wires where only twisted and taped together and earth had become untwisted. now there all crimped in place. Thanks guys for all the input and help.....
