If you are skint have you thought about a SMIC? They do just as good a job.

It went to the Rollin road last year and the guy said the main points that where holding the car back from a bit more was airflow, mostly talking about the stupid airfilters the previous owner fit and a they wanted to remap the fueling.

Well if I'm not going to get much gain from getting a fmic then I'll have a look into getting a smic.I take it these will just replace the old one,one in one out?

Cheers

Lookin to invest in an intercooler soon but want to know what type other people r using. I've had a look at the hks ones that are around the 750 price mark but at the same time I'm finding other ones which r cheaper.what do use recommend?price and performance wise?

Have a read of THIS. A cheap ebay intercooler may look the same as a branded alternative that is 2-3 times the price, but there is a big difference in terms of design, construction, fit and performance.

The quality of the core (the part that cools the air charge) and the design of the end tanks (the parts either side of the core) dictate how effectively the air is cooled and pressure drop across the intercooler.

The stock side mounted intercooler is properly ducted and uses a quality tube and fin core, if in good condition this should be more effective than a bigger ebay FMIC with a cheap bar and plate core.

At BPU levels I would go for either a new Toyota SMIC, a quality aftermarket SMIC such as the GReddy R-spec or a smaller branded FMIC such as the HKS Type S or GReddy V-spec. If you do decide on an FMIC then make sure it is properly ducted so the air is directed through the intercooler.

I've been talking to a few mates who work in garages there saying just go for the smaller branded fmic even though the smic is also a good idea.where is the best place to order one from?not goin to have the cash right now, rough idea one prices would let me sit money aside

Yeah I spotted those ones that's y I asked for some advice here.I know it's cheap but as people always say u get what u pay for, I personally would rather pay extra for something that is a better quality, had been tried, recommended and people have noticed results. Nic do you supply intercoolers or is there someone you know of who sells them, best price always preferred :) let's me gauge how much to budget

What reasons have they given?

FYI I run a CW SMIC on my track car which was dynoed at 592hp ;)
