Matt H
I've just been out for lunch and came across a promotion for something called Mountain Dew Energy. A group of promoters sat in a Toyota Hilux, banging out the tunz and handing out bottles of it to the public (or mentalists as the way people were grabbing out was just unreal - I'd hate to see what they would have been like had it been food rations post WW3 or something). Anyway, I thought I'd give it a go as it seems be trying to compete with the currently popular market of high caffeine engine drinks, which I do buy my share of. Well....it tastes awful. It’s pretty much like a diet sprite. A total throw back to the 90’s, which incidentally is where mountain dew originated from, but discontinued due to poor sales. Has anyone else been treated to a City / Town centre promotion? What do you think? It certainly can’t compete with the likes of Relentless IMO, but judging by the quality of the product, it will probably be cheaper. I’d put it higher in the ranks than Monster though – yuk. Scott
I like it, it tastes like mountain dew. Loved the stuff and it is the first drink I buy when I go to America. It isn't an exact flavour comparison though, due to being an Energy drink, so I reckon they should just bin it and bring the original back. Matt H
It does seem to be rather popular in America according to Wiki.
Scott
There is a facebook group for it, asking for it to be brought back to the UK. It was out here years ago.

The original was here in the 90's but discountinued. This new Engery drink variety only came out May this year according to Wiki.

Yeah, I tried the energy drink on the way back from Blackpool. My Wife was excited at finding it as we both love the original. Didn't know it was as early as May though, says a lot about their promotion ideas lol.

I reckon they're having to give it a second kick start. According to a lad in the office, they were handing it out of the weekend in Birmingham. marcAB10
I've had it, they seem to be only selling it at BP petrol stations, I like it, then again I liked the original mountain dew and I'm basically addicted to energy drinks..

Sodium 50 mg Sugar 31 g Protein 0 g Caffeine 37 mg take your pick?? high sodium, sugar, caffeine, its just all bad. BUT i would say one as a cheat drink, i.e one a week aint gona kill you kinda thing, but anymore than that, it all adds up to unwantd crap in your system. Same with lucozade i had a mate drink one a day for ages, i told him to come off it, he was so hooked on it, he started shaking and having cold sweats when he stopped drinking it. Matt H
That's what I thought you would post up Scott, or something similar at least Just playing Devil's Advocate here, it seems to me that the issue with energy drinks is the high sugar and caffeine, then the other bits and bobs that aren't illegal, but like laser eye surgery are relatively unknown, play a secondary concern. My take on them, is they’re like any other sugar loaded branded product, they’re never going to be healthy. They should be treated like any other treat and consumed infrequently. caseys
Cut down on the energy drinks... caffiene can over stimulate the stomach and could be a cause of peptic / duodenal ulcers. Alcohol, smoking, antacids and NSAIDS can all cause it. The local hospital are doing a study on energy drinks / caffiene intake to ulcer diagnosis. I don't smoke, probably drink 1-2 times a year, ditto for coffee and tea but I did drink 1-2 cans of relentless/red bull/energy drinks 5 days a week and have decided it's a good time to cut down after nearly dying due to losing 4 pints of blood one night when an ulcer which had zero symptoms suddenly went pop. Vomiting blood - just say no kids. Made me realise I'm not bullet proof even at 29... Get plenty of sleep, a godo diet and exercise to keep energy levels up... we've survived thousands of years without energy drinks, treat them literally like you would alcohol - in moderation. martini
Wow @ caseys! What a story. Do you have any teeth left? Those things are almost pure sugar. I do think that coffee isn't too bad though. I have 1-2 cups of black coffee with no sugar throughout the day.

He's probably morbidly obese and often drinks one of those litre bottles of Tesco branded energy drinks for lunch. We’re fully expecting him to keel over at some point.
