Advice on spay gun set up

Recommended Posts

This is the gun I am intending to use to spray my car with. I know its a cheap and nasty one, can anyone give me an idea what type of pressure I need to set my regulator to?

Also on the side it has a fan adjust knob, any ideas how to set this up would be great. Had a search on google and have a few ideas but am trying to learn as much as I can before I dive in.

Have a look here, pretty much the same as yours, what size nozzle are you usesing?

Actually I have one of those exact guns as well, but it has the wrong type of air fitting for my hose. Ok silly question coming up, how can I find out what size of nozzle the orange one has?

Dude go down b&q and pick up a decent gravity feed for around £30 ish, suction feed will be a pain when going low to the ground;)
Yeah I considered this, and in fact Screwfix do some too that are gravity fed, but from what I read there are pros and cons of both systems.

I use an iwata HVLP gun, and usually set around 2.5 bar.

Paint mix depends very much on what paint...

Ok thanks Gav, thats interesting as I read on a site earlier that 40psi is a good starting pressure on simple small guns.

Paint I am using is cellulose and supplier advised 1:1.

This is like the other one I have, but I need to buy the hose adaptor to fit.

And this is one I was considering buying:
