Supra-Brett
Can anyone recommend one that does the job that is cheap ?
ray007
i bought one from halford for about £50, it was crap though, i think its more technique than product, and is very time consuming in future i think ill just go to 'invisible touch detailing' , they charge about £250 but do a very very good job, make your car look new, take out all the swirls etc.

She treats it like a skip, full of kids sweets and drive down country lanes past buses scratching all the side of it:(. I just wanted something to get all the tree sap, muck grime, etc etc off it. Bobbeh
You can pick up the Meguiars DA polisher for around or under £100. That's a good product.

I'm sure one of the detailers will comment further but I doubt you would want to use a polisher to 'clean' a car. I thought they should only be used when the car was clean as one spec of gravels or dirt could destroy your paintwork. Even for polishing I wouldn't use a machine having seen the swirl marks they create. I wash with a special mitt (glove) that seems to do a great job, came from halfords I think, obviously with two bucket method. I've recently bought liquid wax kit too but haven't tried it yet. I did get a snow lance from halfords, total waste of money.

Sorry i didn t explain fully, you know what i mean surely:) Clean first ( 2 or 3 washes for the wifes car believe me), use cutting compound, wax etc etc.

Why bother then? Its hours of work even with a polisher. Just stick it through the car wash and be done with it. If she doesn't care about it, why should you? After all, aren't one of there main purposes to remove swirl marks and such? As for the snow lance, that also serves good purpose in the preparation of detailing. Again, if you know how to use it right it can be very effective imo! It all depends on what the OP wants, and in this case i'd agree with the above and say you'd be best of just giving the car a good wash.
