supRo
I have had problems with my car and the turbos have not been running right. The car is now much better but I can't remember if both turbos should come on 1st gear? At the moment I have 1 turbo come online on 1st gear - goes to 0.5 boost. I think both turbos should come on 1st gear? Cheers Ro
merckx
To be honest I'm too busy looking at the road when accelerating from being stationery and in 1st gear. You should feel the extra pull anyhow and your boost will go up significantly when the second turbo comes online. Just look at the revs and at 4000-4500 you'll feel the difference! supRo
just to confirm then, second turbo is suppose to come on at first? I thought so....might need to try a new ecu Thanks, Ro
Bobbeh
Both turbos should come online in any gear you're in if you put your foot down
Soonto_HAS_soop
Have you tried revving first to over 5000 rpm and then letting it drop back before doing it again? Mine has this fault as have a few (Matt H noticed mine) of where it will not boost tubbie 2 until after it has been over 5000 rpm.
SimonB
just to confirm then, second turbo is suppose to come on at first? I thought so....might need to try a new ecu Thanks, Ro The ECU doesn't know or care what gear you are in. Boost is relative to engine load, and the engine load in first is much lower than in 4th say. In any case, if you floor it in 1st you'll get loads of wheelspin and not enough time to build full boost before hitting the rev limiter surely! Got to aggree with that never seen more than .7 bar in first the time isn't there to build the boost up. Don't think i'd like 1.4 bar in first either. supRo
I do believe quite a few members have this issue and no ones successfully sorted it out? Mines has been checked over properly and the conclusion is that the greddy 2 row vspl intercooler is not doing it's job or it's the ECU. Another sympthom was that the engines internal chamber temp was excessively high. All hoses, pipes, boost pressue tank, wastegate, actuators, vsv's, spark plugs, fuelling have been checked. In all other gears, both the turbos pull very strongly - no smoke or anything
Ian C
I just don't think you are getting enough load on the engine to produce the boost. The second turbo will come online but won't be doing much. Don't think I ever saw much about 0.7bar on mine. -Ian
supRo
I think I'm getting the picture - I'll recheck the boosting on first gear tonight. As I have not been boosting properly for a few months (I think it's 90 % sorted now) I just couldn't remember what the boost should go up to on 1st gear. Thanks for your help everyone, much appreciated Ro
