Abz
Right based on the advice earlier, make sure you are prepped for the interview. Make sure you do tonnes of research on the company, know what they do, what sectors they specialise in, what field of what they undertaken. They might use moto's or something along them lines which might be used on the main page of their website. They might or might not even ask you but it is good to make sure you know about the company. Make sure you know your CV back to front, they will use it to question your experience & use it as a guideline to ask questions etc. They will also ask you questions about the software/hardware which you used & might even test you on a few scenario. Smart clothes, look clean & tidy & with a bit of sensor of humour you will be in there! Make sure you are relaxed, they want to see what you are like under pressure. Smile & speak clearly & make sure you backup things you say with examples. Good luck, hope this helps
paulrenn
Tailor your CV as someone already suggested. Highlight the relevant parts of your background and maybe put more detail into those items. Irrelevant stuff or things you did as a student you can keep as one liners or remove altogether. Depends on your experience really...if you are a young nipper than you won't have much to put so you will need to talk up the relevant parts. My "standard" CV is 4 pages long, with only one sentence or paragraph for each role. I have had about 20 jobs though. I could easily get rid of 1 or 2 pages since anything done more than about 10 years ago is pretty much irrelevant. I like to keep it all though otherwise I would myself forget what I did, and I like clients to see that I have done diverse roles. DAMN - just saw you got an interview now, so please ignore above advice, typed it based on first few comments in the thread

The role looks perfect for me, its just a matter of telling them that Very good, now make sure they know that you are ideal for this role They sure you have a couple of questions to ask, I would go for what sort of infrastructure setup they have, maybe questions about what they have in the pipeline or what work is currently going on in the firm. They may mention about the platforms they are using & what sort of projects are on-going so pay attention to them. Shows good interest Good luck, let us know how it goes
Thorin
Do people still stick to 2 page CV's these days? Seriously, you can't fit anything in just two pages. Aim for 3.
Smallshinyant
Well just an update, had my interview today. I think it went well, but well enough i am not sure. They have another day of interviews tomorrow and said they would know what they are doing by Monday at the latest. Looks like a fantastic place to work. Oh, and the point of this post, is just to say thanks to all of those who have responded with tips and help, took it all on board and certainly made me prepared. Rob
Do people still stick to 2 page CV's these days? Seriously, you can't fit anything in just two pages. Aim for 3. Yes, 2 page max. If you need more than 2 you are either waffling or you keep having to change jobs because you keep nicking stuff or touching up the lady staff. fuldhat
I would even say 2 pages is to much, but if they are well written and the layout is good, then it might be okay. People often write to much junk in their CV`s and applications. I have now hired around 5 people for the company I work at and I always choose the ones with a good short application and tidy / precise CV. If you need more than 2 you are either waffling or you keep having to change jobs because you keep nicking stuff or touching up the lady staff. Far from it, most agencies I spoke to want more than two pages. They want you to go into detail about things you achieved in your last few positions. If you're sticking to two pages you can barely put down the name of the company and your job title.
Smallshinyant
Hi all, Just an update. The CV that many of you helped me create got me a lot of interest, and on Monday, i got a job offer. In two weeks time i will be covering the IT for a large American firm in Crawley. The job is my dream geeky role, with plenty of travel(My induction is two weeks in America!) and I have almost doubled my yearly income. So thanks a lot guys, i think i owe a few drinks. On a side note, i need a cheap cheap daily driver.
