Neil-NA
Was this because of the heaters not working malarky that you had going on?
stevie_b
Chris, let us know how you get on. The solution to your problem (whatever the solution turns out to be) might help someone else one day. Any update on this?

caseys
Any update on this? I heard there's another thread somewhere about this Okay, to make it interesting If it is the head gasket, I'll pay for a year's membership to the forum for you If it isn't I want £10 donated to the RSPCA, fair (Oh and I want decent proof of the HG ) I'd say that's fair game. caseys
Offer was rejected...oh well Distinct lack of money + mouth.... Yet a head-off job isn't exactly cheap. I think you can guess which side I stand on with the outcome of this!
Evil_Nuts
What?
caseys
What? Well you've had multiple people telling you it won't be HG, checking/swapping out the heater matrix assembly will be far cheaper than a HG swap but all these comments were brushed aside. Even though there's years of experience here combined from members who have suffered both heater matrix issues and also know plenty about the HG area of the 2JZ. We're all waiting to see the results chap Is the head back on? Has it solved your heater problems?
Evil_Nuts
The bach 4 headblots were loose.....physically the headgasket was ok, but you could see water marks where it has seeped, I've had the head tested for flatness and pressure tested too, the head is on the car, just need to spend a couple more hours plumbing. I've also had the rad tested and flushed the matrix....new water pump and stat also are fitted....fingers crossed? Fingers crossed it solves the heater issue. Let us know how it goes when it's all plumbed back in. Was the head flat? And did it hold pressure OK? Evil_Nuts
Yeah, put an new headgasket on and yup the head was flat and held pressure ok...head was heavy as hell but I've dont it at work so the engine life helped

stevie_b
I've got to hand it to you chap, I didn't think it would work, but you've fixed it. Nice one! What did you change? Head gasket, water pump, thermostat, matrix flush. Anything else? What did the water look like that was flushed out of the matrix? Dirty or clean? Dnk
Glad it worked but why were there loose head bolts ? Surely pressure testing it would have shown that up. Edited August 5, 2010 by Dnk (see edit history)
