I was going to resolder it with new capacitors until i noticed one of the IC's was bad too. Anyone got a J-spec tt non vvti ECU for sale? pref new. nevins
Had the capacitors actually leaked out mate, and have you checked the resistance across them?, I have had to repair a few ecu's in the past and the burn marks were from the flux overheating. Durandal
The tops of the capacitors haven't popped, but one of the legs on one of them is melted right off. I'm pretty good with a soldering iron but it's the IC that worries me because I can't read ant numbers off of it to find out what it is and if I can get a replacement one at my local electronics store. At first when I saw the capacitors I was thinking easy fix. All the middle legs on the IC melted together and some of the board.
nevins
Not a nice thing then fella, You may be better off finding a replacement for time being to get the car on the road and then Have a go at repairing at some point.

Durandal
The chip is ND SE145 9N21 I'm pretty sure ND stands for nippondenso and that it is a toyota specific chip so getting that probably impossible.
