Sharpe
Right i have this item fitted to my TT and I've been told its most likely to be an oil cooler for the PS Its got a nice hole in it and needs replacing, would anybody be able to confirm that's what it is and also point me in the direction of a suitable replacement. many thanks Jamie
mwilkinson
Do you have a UK or jspec? Jspec Look to see where the pipes go. If it's an oil cooler the pipes will go to a plate between the oil filter. If it's a PAS cooler one pipe will go to the PAS bottle and the other to the PAS rack. Alternatively if it's a UK spec then it will be a factory oil cooler. Luxluc
It looks quite big for a PS cooler. From dimension, I would think it's a engine oil cooler.
Sharpe
Thanks for the replies guys. ive not got the car with me to check fully but it is a J spec and it looks like the looped bar type cooler that would normally sit where the intercooler would be is no longer fitted and plumbed into the black cooler in the pic. Also the power steering is not working. hope that helps?

Sharpe
I suppose looking at which ever fluid reservoir is empty would confirm either way - why didn't I think of that before? so would any oil cooler that fits be suitable? cheers
Chris Wilson
You need to remove it and see what pipe fittings it has, and its physical dimensions. Don't get dirt in the fittings or hoses? Power wash it all off if you can, before dismantling it. The fluid coming out should give a clue as to its function, as well. You could just remove it and join the hoses together. Chris Wilson
Depends what it is. Drift stuff probably does need a PAS cooler, drag certainly doesn't. Some circuit stuff might. But then again it might be an engine oil cooler. What is it, have you followed the pipe runs?

If not got the car back with me for a few days so im not able to check but im 99% certain it is in replacement for the looped bar cooler that would normally sit where the intercooler now is. the car will be used for fast road with the odd track run. cheers
