caseys
That must be a 335d issue, as my 535d has done 125,000 miles in my hands with a DMS remap. No problem. Still pulling like a train with 150k on the clock. Same engine in 535d and 335d. No differens at all, it`s most likely the Remap, that will decidede how it goes longterm. A 335d/535d engine with a decent remap will get around 330-340 hp. Friend's father has an E90 330d m-sport, I think 2005 plate which has had all these problems. Not a 335d, but then again I don't know if there's much difference in them.
VIL
Engine is the same, yes - but there's more space in the 535d bay, so maybe the small amount of extra heat from increased boost isn't as kind to the 335d as the 535d? Mine is 344bhp and 560lb/ft according to DMS. Sorry to hijack part of this thread.... I have sold my Sup and looking to get a 535d now. As you are an existing 535d owner how do you rate the car, whats the running costs like and fuel economy etc? I read great things about it but nothing beats hands on experiences. johnny g
Runing costs are fine - cheaper than the Supra. I use it on the motorway at 80-90 and get 36-38mpg on average. Around 560-580 miles to a tank. It's like any other car with tyres. Drive it ok and they'll last, drive it hard and they won't. Ride is lovely, firm enough to be "sporty" and soft enough to be comfy. The chassis copes with bumps ok but can jar a little with harsh bumps. Servicing costs are decent. Depends on your BMW dealer, but a good independent dealer will keep the costs down. I've not had a single issue with mine in over 125,000 miles. EDIT: Actually, I had a split hose from the small turbo switch valve, which was repaired just outside warranty, but was 1 hour labour and £64 + VAT for the hose. Never heard of anyone else having that problem though, so might just have been a one off.
