Oh and IBTL Apparently the Koran does not say that women have to cover their faces, it was ruled by the Ayatollahas, bit like the Koran does not promote violence but that does not seem to bother some advocates of that religion. Narratives can be interpreted differently according to sources, context, author etc... For this reason a lot of muslims try to follow one of four main scholars that have studied the Quran and the hadiths. The four scholars agree the Jilbab to be a loose overcoat but have differing opinions on whether the Jilbab also includes covering of the face and that is possibly why you hear conflicting stories. Muslims believe that any of the four scholars word can be followed but so as to avoid us picking and choosing a religion that suits us once you have chosen a scholar to follow for one ruling you will tend to stick with the same scholar for all others. This thread will probably get closed down pretty soon. The Quran and hadiths do ask for both men and women to be modest. It may be for this reason the muslim women are not shown in these documentaries as much as the men. My parents recently went to visit friends in Kuwait. The men and women were out ever night but they did their own thing. The men went to their tents for the sheesha and women out shopping or into town. The women let their hair down certainly, but only my father brought back pics. If my mum hadn't told me the places she did on holiday I'd have though she just stayed at home with the women and helped cook dinner. My personal opinion on your comment is that it is down to culture and not the religion. For me I felt more comfortable during the first few years of our marriage when my wife never did the scarf. Thing is she's chosen to wear it now and just as I can't force her to wear I'm not going to tell her to take it off. At the end of the day everyone has their own opinions and bias on things. The govt do more for them in the fear they will get branded a racist. After the July bombings in 2005 it should have been scrapped then for security reasons alone. Yet here we are 5 years on and still theres people walking around with no identity hidden under a hood and whos to say there all female its a perfect way for terrorist cells to move around undetected. By the burka I'm assuming you mean the covering of the face not just the hair Dude and Tony? The ninja costume is called a Niqaab. It's more of a cultural thing than religious. There aren't that many people wearing them though. Why does the wind you up so much Dude? Lol you crack me up. If my gal decided to wear a head scarf then I would greatly respect her for it but it would be a bit odd for me. Tbh she would never wear one that drama queen lol. Muslims and their lifestyles are so much in the limelight now as compared to before 9/11. Its a shame the majority of the Western world's opinion is so negative about us based on the acts of such a tiny minority. I read a figure that 90% of Spaniards distrust Muslims. And the figures for Europe are quite similar. It's tough times for us mussies: before we getting mauled like in the movie 28 days later I'm gonna stock up on some shotgun shells. BRING IT!
