ray007
Hi all, Need some advice the last few days im getting some white smoke through the exhaust, especially when idleing for a while. if i rev it up it clears up after a few seconds, i got a CO reading 3 times higher than normal. I also noticed some oil around the intercooler pipe by the inlet/throttle body, cant work out where its coming from! any ideas what the problem could be? Turbo's/stem seals? Swampy442
Does sound like turbo, is it when hot, cold etc? The "idling for a while" gives it away for me, but thats normally blue/grey in colour

The "idling for a while" gives it away for me, but thats normally blue/grey in colour its usually one the cars warmed up a little. Ive drove it without using the turbo and still after about 20 mins or so especially when idle i start getting smoke from the exhaust. If i keep the revs up then its not too bad.. Ive got a feeling its a turbo. However since the smoke i haven't let the turbo's kick in, just dont want it to get worse. And for reference purposes this is your old 1jz engine hence im buying another engine, from which ill utilise the turbo's for this car. mrgee2jz
Smell the smoke but don't kill yourself with it! If it smells like oil, then you know what it is, if not, check your coolant, White smoke is normally water.... Which is normally from either a cracked cylinder head or gasket
