Suprab1
Hi lads Have a problem with the Evo 7. It's been into a couple of different mechanics, including an evo specialist. My problem is that it sounds a bit lumpy on tick-over (sometimes not all the time) and Most of the time when im driving in town at anywhere up to 2000rpm the car seems to splutter and jerk forward erratically. It only happens when your just touching the throttle i.e. going over speed bumps or crawling behind car in traffic but when you press the throttle down it clears. The people that i've brought it to keep telling me they can't feel it happening when their driving it but they are driving it along roads at normal speeds and not in through towns where it happens at low revs. Has any of you ever came across this problem before? any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, i put new stock plugs in it (ngk iridiums). Car has cat back exhaust and hks induction kit and otherwise stock. Sorry for such a long post but this has been dragging out for the last six month and HAVE to get this fixed as its doing my head in.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
these problems are only these things. - plugs (not gapped right) - coils breaking down - worn or faulty pump - vac or IC leak - fuel pressure or maybe fuel filter block. lastly a daft sensor playing up (but if it was a sensor you will have an error code or light) one of the above is the fault

I suppose the best thing to do is start at the cheapest thing & work our way threw the list. Thanks again mate.

Thanks again mate. well if your not sure on how to test coilpacks etc.. then that is your only option and buy uprated parts so its not a waste of time if it proves to be not to be that. ie uprated fuel pump and packs etc etc
hodge
Check the resistance on the maf sensor/unit. It's a common issue as they are very easily broken. Well unless it has a map sensor then I'll just shut up lol.

MAF sensor thats the thing just after the air filter? How do i check the resistance? Thanks Hodge. Is there any way of finding this out? Do you know anyone who has this evoscan? Thanks, Rab
