Jspec Germany
You polish it off. Temp for oven, around 80-100 degrees © is what I used. 10-20 mins, but check them often. Should pry apart after that. Do a search. There's a huge write up on how to do this. I went the Porter/cable polisher route with Novus and Plexus.

DannyW
Started doing the passenger side light, got the lens cover off easy enough after 5 mins in the oven. The silver surround inside has gone funny in places, some of the chrome effect stuff has come off, not sure what to do really, touch up with silver paint? what would you guys do? DannyW
That's a damn good idea. either that or black anyway. Unfortunately i havent got any paint so ive just touched up with silver for now but i will definately paint them properly when i have more time. Passenger side is complete, drivers side to do later today.

Jim_1979
I'll defo be trying this soon. The oven method anyway... hope I don't melt the buggers!! What's the best thing to clean the inside with? I take it it's just the inside of the plastic lens which needs cleaned? Still don't know what they weren't glass in the first place!! First dibs for anyone selling a spare set of lights!! ... lol. (just incase)
DannyW
I used the oven method, 15 mins at 90 degrees was enough, used T-cut and autosol to clean the outside and inside of the lens and some silver touch-up paint left over from my impreza to touch up the bits of chrome that had come off. Then after that they went back in the oven for 10mins to soften the sealent again so i could push the lenses back on. All clips back on, healdights bolted back in place and jobs a good'un before and after (drivers side not cleaned, passenger side cleaned) Drivers side after cleaning What do you think? Jim_1979
looks miles better than what mine do at the minture anyway. How much are the UK glass headlights??
DannyW
Not sure how much the Uk's are, damn pricey though i bet! Have a go at it yourself, it's dead easy, ive only had the supra a week but couldnt wait to get it done!

Im thinking about doing my UK spec lights when the car comes back from Matt but Im not sure I have enough time with JAE coming... JB

chilli
Well just wanted to say thanks to the effort in this thread. Followed the write-up and just cleaned up one of my sad headlights today - the other is strangly fine. Looks so much better now hope it is sealed reasonably well though, time will tell... Why not do it the new way that is less costly and time consuming, An Acrylic deoxidizer will clear your headlight lens up in seconds and you can do it yourself. http://www.ibc34.com/onestep.html... Pot
Excellent thread! Well done! I've got my headlights apart (10 min @ 80c in the oven, and some brute force to pull it apart), the insides have been sprayed black, and I'll be off to get some stuff to clean and seal it with tomorrow night so they should be on the car very soon
