Guest Dannyyy
Hey guys. Got a speeding ticket through the post today, for doing 81 in a 70. I already have 6 point on my licence from a non related speeding incident. Was wondering if my licence is gonna be amen away? Or because this is my first speeding ticket, will I have to go to one of those speeding lectures? Cheers
Purity14
You now have 9 points on your licence. If you get caught again, doing anything bad in your car.. then you will be banned for 12 months. Have a nice day.
Gaz6002
You lose your license for 12 points, not nine. With 11MPH over the limit you'll only get three points as a fixed penalty, which I'd be happy with. Your insurance is going to hit the roof though. Attero
I thought that you only get 'speeding lectures' if you are younger or it's your first time speeding (which is your case apparently). Either way, I guess if you get the points, you've got them for a reason and that's that. I guess it's up to you to learn from your mistakes for when you get your license back (after 12 points of course - you've got another 3 to go! Learn from your mistakes). Gaz6002
My mate has more than 12 points on his licence and hasn't lost it That's odd. The DVLA says he should be disqualified. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069870 A driver or motorcyclist who accumulates 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period MUST be disqualified. This will be for a minimum period of six months, or longer if the driver or motorcyclist has previously been disqualified.
jevansio
I took a photo of it when I was down the club the other day, I was suprised too, can't seem to find it on my phone though, sure it was over 12 (13 I thought, he had 9, then got another 4 for something else)
Guest Dannyyy
Forgot to mention in only 21, bin driving for just over a year,.. Any change?
Angarak
The option to go on a speeding course is dependant upon how far over the limit you are, and it varies from force to force. If they have not mentioned a speed awareness course in their communication with you then I guess you didnt qualify for it.

edge
Even if you got 12 points, as long as you wasn't being totally reckless the chances of a ban are slim
Shane
Even if you got 12 points, as long as you wasn't being totally reckless the chances of a ban are slim Yep, my eldest had 12 for a while and kept his licence. Lucky for him when he got the 3 that put him up to 12, the first six he got were due to expire shortly afterwards.

But i think you would need to take it fairly deep though

bradleyh_15
first 2 years of driving you can only gain 6points! could be a dvla oversight though! would not question it but you might get into trouble if you get pulled and the police pick up on it! not sure on the stance when it comes down to retake's! martini
Forgot to mention in only 21, bin driving for just over a year,.. Any change? Wow. Thanks for raising the insurance of young men across the country. I had to wait until I was 25 before I could buy my first car due to insurance prices. Mind you, my first car is the Supra I currently own.

Nasty chap Got my 1st at 21 but they put me in my best 'dog show pose' when giving me the quote A friend racked up 18 points on his license when he was 16 and a bit of a wild one... didn't realise you could get endorsements before you could even have a provisional, but it appears you could! I'm still not sure what the 'po po' are. Are we talking tellytubbies or whatever they are?

Brett 1
If you get 6 points in your first 2 years of driving, then you gotta re-take your test, i dont see how you didnt if you only been driving a year
