My hammerite diy respray

evinX

Recommended Posts

I havent rattled them just yet lol, I bought them and had then fully refurbed, polished rims and dark grey spokes to match my gun metal grey body colour, although the rear polishing is a bit dull now, I ran the rears for a lot longer then the fronts which have been sat in my house for 4 years nearly lol, rears have been inside for 2 now lol, my time flies......

Sounds nice, they of your gunmetal supra?

Spoiler looks much better than the rear quater :p different paints i assume.

i didnt think it would look much good at first. however that rear wing is great i think. Looks like darth vader :)

the whole car has something done to it, and its mostly custom made. The bonnet though looks too plain. needs some vents at least :)

Didnt you remove the wiper and washer? or did i imagine that?

What happened to that custom bumper you had. Think the failside lets it down.

And i would jump at the wheel swap with ash. those wheels are great. would look awesome on your car.

Told you the other day, bonnet is from my 2nd supra, so cant let it go unless someone swaps for a damaged abflug that knight racer do, dear god i want one so bad!! but the bonnets painted so sod it for now, nah you imagined the de wipering and washer, no tints so want the wiper and washer so i can see:D Yup those rims are nice, they are so close to the veilside and work equip 5 spokes, that custom bumper i got, i could finish it, but then id have to paint the eyelids that came with it, and it needs a custom undertray as its flimsy as anything pics below, what do we think?:D

and the rear quatre panel paint is the same stuff, you have to build it up like that or it drips! that was also just a test:D

id just put in a couple of these. quite subtle and a little different.

Id fit the bumper aswell but stick with the lids you have if you must have them. Vailside lets it down and it sticks out as being the only non custom bit.

Aha! but the veilside bumper i have was smashed in half at the top so has had custom work done to it:D

Nooo those vents...MUST DIE!!! i wouldnt mind putting in some louvers under the washers like the original veilside bonnet

Little update, sorted my bent jacking sills out, really was getting on my nerves! and the rust....:Pling:

Floor pan was pushed up! so couldnt help fix that, but did pull the sill straight..

Used a wire cup on the drill to get all the rust of and down to bare metal, no time for pics and i appiled the primer on the bare metal straight away

Well its now been coated with hammerite brush on satin black, then coated with hammerite under body seal, now i can use the standard jack in the correct place. I used to have a hydraulic jack and that caused the bending.

Good work. But really, is this just an elaborate advert for Hammerite products, in which case its still good but needs more discount offers.

Lol, its becuase hammerite have some good quality paints for sorting out my arch enemy - rust!

My god, surely the CAN respray is a wind up. If it isnt as wind up, then why dont you just do this.

1. Buy a cheap tent begoda type thing like that use for BBQ's

2. cheap compressor (25l) (~£100) and a cheap gun, (£10-15)

3. invest in some 2litres of paint in the colour you want + 5l thinner.

I hate to think what this must cost in rattle cans and it will be as streaky and patchy as hell.

Spray it HALF properly and in HALF the time, theres no way cans will turn out good. Im doing a garage based respray at the moment on a smart car, but im using the proper gear and its still tricky to get a mint mint finish, you havent got a chance outside).

Are you going to clear coat it? if not fair play, but if you are, no chance of a good finish (Flys, dust, temperature changes, it will be very pot holed and with a can respray you need to cut it back to with an inche of its life to get anywhere near a reasonable finish, which means lots of coats and lots of CANS).

I always admire DIYers, im one myself, but there are certain things which are best left alone if your not going to invest in the facilities to do it. Ill eat my words if you prove me wrong, so i throw down the gauntlet.
