does anyone know how to disconnect a Ford escort immobiliser

Standard or after market?

It's the standard one I would assume as it has the red chip in the key. I only have one key with the van. When you turned the ignition on it used to light up for a few seconds then go out, It now doesn't do that, All the dash lights come on but won't turn over, when I bypassed the ignition it turned over but wouldn't start leading me to think it must be the immobiliser.

That's me out then ;)

If it was aftermarket, it would be a 10 minute job to take it out, problem is I'm not sure if the ford ones are linked into the ECU or not.

Ok thanks anyway, I don't have a clue if it's linked or where to find it.

Not on a diesel, from memory it just cuts the pump.

Try running a wire direct to the pump to see if it starts.

So the same as I did for the starter? I just used a wire from the battery to the bullet connector that is a little way down the big red wire to the starter motor.

All it does on the diesel's is hold the fuel stop on the pump so it will not start and Does no give you a 12v feed to the starter switch , i have to do this on my step dads transit for the same reason , go to the back of the ignition barrel and there are around 4 to 6 wires on the back of it . find the wire that gets 12v when you have the barrell in the crack position . tap into that wire ,then run a wire from there to the starter motor but make sure you fuse it . Then find a wire on the back of the barrell that is live when the ignition is on position 2 (when all dash lights are on ) and goes out once you take the key out , tap into it and run another wire to the fuel pump stop wire (12v wire not the earth) and fuse it some were , with that the van will start . Rich.

As its not petrol its not the pats system, The system on the diesel works by a operating the stop solenoid. It basically stops the fuel entering the pump iirc. To solve this simply run an ignition live to it and jobs done. Its basic as hel mate. The pats is more difficult but all you need is a relay and coil of wire, although ford will tell you this is impossible of course.
