bromy
There's also going to be the Airbus A380 and A400m. And there will be aeroplanes with propellers too. http://www.farnborough.com/Site/Content/Farnborough2010/default.aspx The 400M is a turboprop, we machine the pylons that attach the engines to the airframe as well as shed loads of other parts. sdistc
Look forward to your pics, LBM I will be going tomorrow (and, of course, dragging along the trusty 50D ) so hopefully I can get something worth looking at. Although after checking out my shots from Henley-On-Thames, I need a damn polariser

Although after checking out my shots from Henley-On-Thames, I need a damn polariser Well the good news is I have a polariser, but unfortunately not a 50D I'm going to be interested to see if I can keep up with the jets and frame well etc...my Pany isn't the fastest camera on the planet. Still should be a good day out. Edit: Nice vid Bromy
caseys
I'm glad you didn't call it the eurofighter Flown on an a380 and they are absolutely amazing pieces of engineering. Big fan of the Vulcan myself. If you enjoy Farnborough consider coming down to the Bournemouth air festival which is right on the beach, very nice day out if it's dry. Enjoy the weekend! Godmutha
I went to Farnborough Air Show yesterday. Really good day out. Most of the stalls were closed as it was the last day for the companies and delegations, but even so, the displays were brilliant as ever. I didn't see the 787 yesterday, but it may be back for the public days.

JamesArup
Ahh, I was there on Saturday! Always go when it's on. The traffic was, as always, terrible. Took 2.5 hours to do a 15 min. journey on any other day. F16, Typhoon (Eurofighter), Vulcan were all great. Afterburner take-off's make a noise that feels like someone is reaching down your throat and trying to rip your guts out. The Battle of Britain tribute stuff, and the Red Arrows ofc, were also really good. Took a bunch of photos that I am still sorting through right now. The only one I've done so far is this one of a Hurricane, Lancaster and Spitfire together ... /proud to be British! Battle of Britain Tribute Cheers, J
Lbm
Lbm, where are the pics captain camera Come on man! Straighten up and fly right! Nice day out - however even though I took 200-300 shots (which is not many to be honest) I failed. Most of them are genuinely bland or just plain out of focus rubbish, or badly exposed or missed. Or all of the above. As I suspected, there is definately an art to shooting aeroplanes that are moving around the sky. I'll stick a few up, but I'm quite depressed with my results. It was more myself than my camera. I also think as I was there with my family and others, I didn't have the freedom to be where I wanted to be. Still it was a family day out rather than some pro assignment A few shots will go up later Ahh, I was there on Saturday! Always go when it's on. The traffic was, as always, terrible. The F16 was excellent though, noise wise and manoevrability. Do you know, I think I've got the same BoB shot as you - I must dig it out. And yes, monumental traffic. AndrewOW
The F16 was excellent though, noise wise and manoevrability. That plane is still my favourite. Originally designed in 1972. Incredible machine.

paulrenn
Love this airshow! I was manning a stand there one year in the early 90's, in some tent, but longed to be outside watching the displays. The traffic was so bad even then that my poor Lancia overheated. Never was the same after that. Will definitely take my kids there one year when they grow up. j_jza80
They're excellent LBM, well done. Any more? I can relate to how difficult it is to get good pics, but remember alot of the top class ones you see on the net are done by very experienced aero photographers, with specialist lenses/ filters etc and preferential places on the flightline to take the pics. Carl
I took lots of pictures at the fairford tattoo and also failed with photos. I like to think in quite handy at portrait and landscape but failed big time with moving aircraft. I even borrowed a mates sigma 120-400 lens and it was near impossible getting focus against the overcast grey sky. To add insult , the Lancaster never flew and parked up with it's back to me. sdistc
Had a good day - lots of loud noises and fast-moving objects, so I was kept happy Photography was so-so... given that I don't have a telephoto, it was hard to get decent shots of any action Here are a few of mine though: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/4835796926_6ef0f47318_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/4835186775_cae756c5e2_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4106/4835795588_249136e09c_z.jpg
