Jamesy
......One of the more enjoyable parts of my job was to organise (and take part in) a track day last week in Loughboroughm Leics. The day included passenger demo laps in a Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8 and Aston Martin. Afterwards you took the car out yourself for a few fast laps. Afternoon entertainment was rally driving - first off using the tarmac course in Evo's and Imprezas, followed by total carnage on the gravel track which basically just involved spinning round constantly while the intructor yanked the handbrake randomly!! Loved driving the supercars - was very impressed with the R8 - felt a lot faster and more "involved" drive than the Gallardo which was suprising! It also made me realise just how fast some of our Supras are when a £100k supercar doesnt scare you on WOT!! Few pics below (yeah that's moi in the blue Lambo with the roof off )

Jamesy
What car, in your opinion, do you think was best overall? The Audi R8 was BY FAR the best car imo. Best handling, felt quite a bit faster and the cabin was spot on. Before going it was the Gallardo i was most looking forward to, but the R8 for me kicked its arse!! kill1308
I had that thought in my mind, but didn't think for a second they'd want to try and quieten down the glorious Lamborghini engine note!

Bobbeh
V cool pictures, looked a lot of fun and a good day out. Was the Audi R8 the one with the V10 Lambo engine? Hard to imagine it feeling quicker if it wasnt or the Lambo was limited?

I think it was the V10 Audi R8 mate....maybe the baffles in the Gallardo slowed it down a bit?? dont get me wwrong it was fast, but i was hoping to be sh!t scared and wasn't even when flat out - it did handle fantastic though
Abz
I found even the V8 R8 was bloody good compared to the 5L V10 in the gallardo! Looks good Jamesy! Plus some awesome pictures
Bobbeh
The V8 R8 is actually quite slow. The Lambo has 540 bhp ish so should piss on it. (having said that, the R8 (V8) outperformed the Gallardo and Spyer on the top gear test track - odd (maybe its a weight issue))! When we hired a couple if Vegas I found the performance only really came in above 6k rpm, but it did fly up to 8k and sounded fantastic, shame about the baffles! Yeah could be down to weight but after seeing the specs of both cars i was suprised how much faster the R8 felt, cant imagine to exhaust baffles in the Gallardo making that much difference

Jamesy
i arranged a corporate day for my work mate and sold sponsorship to cover cost of about 12 grand but i think you can do personal race days like this there for around 150....well worth it
