Why not? Kev has actually done a lot of this himself and while it won't be the same as a $50000 paintjob, he has taken the initiative :)

Exactly. It's all about what people like and can afford to do with their cars. Individuality. Incidentally the car that the late Rik did looked great and was an inspiration to many I am sure. Oh I should add, in some people's opinion.

I actually like the satin paint job for a temporary job, not permanent, but i dont have the enviroment or money to use and gun and compressor, so this a good way of getting my car on the road, im not loaded with cash to do what ever i want, so i have to make do with what i have. Im just of billing road shane:)

Doesn't bother me how you paint your car. It's the finish that matters......... and painting any car to look like black drain piping is just wrong.

There was a Porshe in matt black that drove past me Fri last week. It looked minging.

That one went over your head didn't it.

Dont get you? lol, i did it properly and it looks really good, accident car, pull the front slam panel back to original, rear light area and arch was smashed in, enough people from the area were suprised, plastic welded the bumpers and hammered out + repaired the front wing:)

So smooth finish not hammered effect then, Could you thin it down with thinners and use a gun to apply it.

Yes, if you bought it in tins, but then it looses it rust protection quality, i want to keep that so got the aerosols:)

cant wait to see the pics when its done, i do love a diy repaint makes me happy

And the thing is, its being treated as a proper respray to get the best finish, any blemishes on the car will be sorted out before the paint is layed down, should look real nice.

FANTASTIC!!

I love rat black!! If it was any other 15 yr old car you wouldn't think twice...go for it..it's just a car :)

Out of interest..regarding the baby wipes thing...why can't you just wash with soapy water as per normal?

The only problem i found when i ratted my old motor bikes was how easy it was to mark..like dragging a fingernail along it would leave a mark etc. Be interesting to see if you come across this also..i hope not though..but hey..you can just spray it away BANG..AND THE MARK IS GONE lol

EDIT: One of the best cars i saw, was at a bike garage my mate worked at many years ago..many diff colours of paint and folks just dipped their hands in ..and the hand prints covered the car, sure it was an only banger of a car but it was cool :)
