hogmaw
Works fine on my PC playing 16 bit wavs and 64kbps MP3s as normal. But for some of these files, and I have no idea why, it won't let me scroll through the track. It will only let me play from the beginning, and if I try and scroll or click further/fastforward through the track, it will only start from the beginning again. Very frustrating!!! Anyone any idea why it's doing this, and how to fix? Thx in advance
MaveriK
Sounds like a codec issue if you ask me
scotty71
d/l CCCP (community codec pack) or K-lite, google both should sort your issue
hogmaw
Thanks for the ideas, I tried the cccp but makes no difference! These are basic wav and MP3 music files I'm having problems with. Do I really need to install codec packs to play them?
MaveriK
Try getting a program like GSPot to show what codecs are being used, if the same one keeps cropping up then thats the first place to start. Have you tried using winamp or another program to play the file, does that exhibit the same behaviour. You can email the file to me if you wish and i could take a look at it unless its rap/hip hop or ska in which case you can shovel it. SupraDan24
As above mate, try using a different program, Media player is riddled with problems, it always has been. All the music disappeared off mine a while back for no reason and couldnt be added back on. iTunes or Winamp are good alternatives.
hogmaw
OK I will try winamp and VLC has come recommended to me too
Attero
VLC is just a player as far as I am aware and not a library utliity. You will find Winamp more useful. VLC however is brilliant for codecs, so it's a good idea to have that on our computer anyway. I use it for DVDs and all sorts of videos. hogmaw
Winamp seems to work ok! Horrible layout, I hope I can get used to it!
