AndrewOW
This kind of thing really makes you wonder who, or what is in charge! http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/nottingham/hi/people_and_places/newsid_8809000/8809949.stm Stupid, or what?

Havard
And that is really the best of the news....good grief, must be a slow weak... Weak?? I take it that she hasn't had her kerb dropped and it therefore illegally crossing the pavement...... The video doesn't show it though so I could be wrong. H. AndrewOW
Very probably, Mr Havard. It may have been put there on purpose to let her know that the council knows she's accessing her 'drive' in an inappropriate way. Or maybe the council are just stupid. I'll go with the second option. mawby
What's wrong with the bollard? Looks like it's been put there to stop people driving over the grass verge.

I would agree with you, that it is indeed a very attractive bollard, but it does seem to have been placed there totally on purpose, as I'd thought it would've been better served on the kerbside, rather than in front of her fence. Branners
I'm surprised they took it away. Certainly looks like she has to drive across the verge to get out. I wonder if they would have been so quick if the car had not been on the driveway..

Havard
I dislike the word 'Driveway' used in this matter. Yeah, I prefer the phrase "parking car in my back yard and crossing a grass verge as I'm too tight to pay for the kerb to be dropped legally and pay the council £200 or so, got the press involved in a tit for tat matter with council and now I look like a daft tart nationally.!!" Does that cover it. H.

AndrewOW
So, it turns out it's totally her fault. If you have a gripe with any authority, first go to the press. Sorted.
Matt H
So, it turns out it's totally her fault. If you have a gripe with any authority, first go to the press. Sorted. Funny thing is, she's was probably consulted on the matter and didn't lodge a complaint in the first instance
Havard
I bet that she's had a complaint from a neighbour or something that she is crossing the grass. I bet it's nice in winter or wet weather. She's not wanted to pay the cost if the legal works to get her car on the driveand then got a bollard for her trouble. We had this at our old house. We wanted to drop our front wall and get the curb dropped but there was a tree in front of the house. The costs to get this legally done were massive. In the end we drove accross the corner of next doors drive to get the car into our front garden.... If I were at the council I would have stood by the decision and told her to drop her kerb and then we'll move the bollard. It seems that she has then gone to the press as everyone loves a bit of council bashing..!! Council have then bottled it. Not out of the realms of possibility my theory..!! H. Abz
£200 to drop the kerb? My sister got told she has to plan £2,500 for them to drop them kerb! Though she does live in London and council are even more num nuts here.
