mplavery
What are the main differences between the two? Worth upgrading from the 3G model? well you have Facetime (Video calling) 4 times the pixel count to the previous iphone HD Video recording 5 megapixel cam with LED flash Longer batt life http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/ I think the rest of the stuff you can do with the iphone 4 you can down load to your old iphone I never had the old iphone but i really love the new iphone4, i have only had it a week and still cant put the thing down lol
SupraGirlie
I've got the iPhone 4 and the 3G, it looks nicer, nice to have a decent camera, and the screen is a lot clearer, BUT it wasn't worth the £400 I had to pay for the phone and to upgrade early. Might sell it.
The Restorer
The 3GS is quicker the the 3G and the 4 will be even more quicker. Feedback I have seen on people upgrading their 3G phone to the new iOS4 has been negative, basically the phone running too slow and not having access to all features, background picture etc. On the 3GS, myself included, people have been much more happier and don't really see a reason to upgrade. kill1308
You will also have signal issues Worth adding that the video calling is WiFi only.... and iPhone4 to iPhone 4 only.
SimonT
All i did was just update my 3GS to the new software which i personally are more than happy with as i have a digital camera and i don't need to see someone on the phone to talk to them

martini
It's faster, but the tariff gives you less data for one's "apps". Worse aerial reception and the proximity sensors are dodgy.
Ewen
Up till recently I was lugging around my trusty old Nokia Communicator. It decided to split itself into two bits, so after a half assed attempt at new phone research, I got an Xperia X10. It was a revelation to me, and I'm absolutely amazed at how things have moved on since I last gave a gnats bottom about a lifestyle phone. All was good...then I saw the iPhone 4 in the flesh on Friday. This changes everything...again. Not much impresses me, but this wee gadget is sublime. Dont care or understand about 90% of what it does or can do, but purely as an object, its glass and brushed steel perfection is something I strongly want to own, fondle, play with, polish, stare at. Its difficult to explain, but I haven't felt this way about a gadget since I bought a set of XTR peddle cranks. Those who know me will appreciate the amount of fly-fanning an iPhone 4 that will be necessary when it eventually lands on my door step. Matt H
My take is: - If you've already got a 3GS, don't bother spending more just to upgrade to the 4 - not worth it. - If you're looking for a new phone on a new contract then get yourself the 4. johnny g
For once I agree with Matt I've got the iPhone 4 and I like it, but I've also upgraded my old iPhone 3G to IOS4, and it's much better than previous.
caseys
Got the 4 myself... I'm on my third handset First two have been faulty and not with the reception issues! Screen is lovely, battery life is good, no noticeable speed differences over the 3GS yet though.
