Is the forum losing it's buzz?

I'm sure most people are counting the days until I clear off:d

Seriously, it's a great forum, many different characters over the years and yes it does have more of a chav aspect at times but they do little or no harm.

The amount of info and help is, and always has been, superb. I'm sure I would have sold mine years ago had it not been for this site, it's helped turn my Supra into a hobby rather than just another car :)

I def couldn't have done the things I have done to my car had it not been for this forum & it's members, for that alone I am etentally gratefull

This all takes me back to simpler times and reminds me of a wee ditty my granddad used to sing to me when I was a nipper....

Back when the West was very young

There lived a man named Masterson

He wore a cane and derby hat

They called him Bat...

Bat Masterson!

I'm sure that if he'd sung anything else, I'd currently be driving a Citroen.

I think you are all missing the effect that Facebook has had on internet forums of all different types not just car owners clubs.

Pre Farcebook becoming a part of life like watching soaps for the masses, people would come onto forums like this for banter and chat. All that is in serious decline now and most users just come on for technical stuff etc, as they get their social 'kick' from Farcebook....

I love this forum like no other. I'm a member for more than year. (only 500 posts due to language barier) I'm browsing forum every day home, work, way to work, way from work - love it! Even when I had some problems with other member (trading stuff) I get soo much help from all rest to work it out - never had a though that there will be any one interested of me. This is one big family. (My uncle Jamie has 900bhp supra :D) Jokes, technical help, life advises, all in here :) If you don't like it, there is something wrong with you :)

dont feel any decline really ,made a great fiew friends on here. For a car club the spirit seems high all the time ,with helping eachothers out, like giving some parts to eachother to helping out with builds and fixes.

i have found that even though some people have never met up there is always help out there to give to what is basicly a total stranger that just drives a similar car.

I log on every day and if im home it stays loged on so i can have a quick peek, you tend to get addicted to the for sale section to get the bits you want before some other sneaky bugger beats you to it.

So all in all its a great site that i dont think id ever have any intentions of leaving .

What you see is all part of a timeline in social change, post war (that's 1946 to the younger members here) around 90% of blokes repaired/ maintained their own car , today it's around 10%.

Previously knowledge was gained from books, magazines, or other people . Car/bike nuts met at tracks or local cafe,s or pubs they swapped ideas or showed off their latest build, and raced along the newly built dual carriage.

Then came the Internet....few read books,as it's simpler to just post up a question, that's why there are so many " my battery won't charge" or " how do I replace my brakes " type posts.

Magazines are more about dream building, advertising, and show cars, than they ever were, and modern journos woefully lacking in knowledege(google is their friend)

Car forums will slowly change to reflect each generation, the spelling and complete lack of mechanical or electrical knowledge will continue as schools focus on more computer driven topics.

The forums provide quick answers in a world of speed, where long posts take too much time to read.

They also substitute the cafe weekly meet and banter and race down the bypass.

It's not the same, and I do wonder where it ends up...

Now what's the best brakes I can fit ? Answers in multi choice please..

I am sure I wouldn't still own my car if it wasn't for this forum and the meets.

It has saved me loads of money over the years, as well as costing me a fortune in the For Sale section for bits I would not of normally found or bought:innocent: and I have met some great people that I am happy to think of as great friends.

I have seen this summer slump before and I am sure it will happen next year, but usually for me it's not so bad as we generally have more get togethers during the summer months anyway.

The one thing I have been very happy to see is the hard clamp down on text speak, it just hurts my brain and makes me feel my age.

I to log in religously, even when on holiday abroad and having to pay stupid amounts for hotel internet.

I am sure it annoys the misses at times, but she comes to the meets and seems to understand my obsession, maybe she just prefers it to me being on porn sites:taped: or the golf course.

I am not the most mechanically minded, but this forum has helped me do things mechanically that I would of had to pay stupid amounts of money for and given me more confidence in my own mechanical abilities, due to the knowledge here and help from the members here....................So a big thanks for that:d

I am not a heavy poster by any means, but spend a lot of time here and am still very happy to do so:cool:

and a big thanks as always to all the mods and event organisers:thumbs:.......................as well as all the members who make this the the great forum it is:D

I actually think this forum is improving, growing and evolving.

The community here is awesome.

One, or twice, i've looked outside and thought to myself "there must to more to life than this forum and supras". Girlfriends, sports, hobbies, family and porn have all been successful to an extent but time and time again i find myself here.

This place makes me happy.

You all make me happy.

Please dont ever leave me :)

It has changed since I joined but that is just life, the group of members I knew back then are not all still on the forum or maybe have sold their cars but the new members keep this forum alive imo. I do not post as much as I did, but then marriage, two kids and a hectic life probably have something to do with it:D
