I haven't driven the VXR but I had the SRi DTi as a company hire for a week or so. Fantastic car, absolutely loved it. If I could afford it as my daily drive I would one in a heartbeat.

I can only imagine the VXR as being more impressive/fun :)

I have a base model Zafira diesel and to be honest it's all fine, I would imagine the VXR would be a lot of fun, even my basic thing pulls quite nicely. The main thing it needs is better (stiffer) suspension and better brakes, things the VXR addresses.

I drove my friends GSI a few days ago and I really enjoyed it and was surprisingly quick!

The only thing I found was that being the sportier model the suspension was quite hard and when you put your foot down it torque steered quite alot but other than that was really fun! But like i said it wasn't a VXR but as close to :)

And there's me thinking that the OP would be ridiculed about this choice of car, and how different the result was!

Doing a quick Google image search for Zafira, comes up with a w(hole) set of results far different than I was expecting, but I'm not complaining! ;)

Looking on PH it looks like they will hold their price reasonably well. All the ones under £14K have sold and there was only about 6 on there.

If you can find one then maybe it will be a reasonably sound investment for an MPV as they normally depreciate like a falling stone....;)

i did notice that compared to other models they hold their price better.plus a lot of them have low milage aswell.new from vauxhall dealership just shy of £20,000 parkers guide price £6-£17,000 used.a lot seem to be around the £10,000 mark for 2006-2007.plus it has to be the blue reviews ive been reading say thats the most sought after colour.
