Si_s Supe
...at an SZ manual today. Was nice and tidy, needed a bit if tarring up and some interior trim sorting but on the whole, all good. However, the only thing that bothered me was that under heavy acceleration and over run from high RPM there was a VERY prominent vibration. Sounded like the exhaust knocking but while stationary and without being able to get under the car, I gave exhaust a good shake around and it didn't hit anywhere! Any ideas what else this could be?? kill1308
Plenty of NA supras around dude, just keep looking. I'd doubt very much that a knocking exhaust would cause the level of vibration that you describe... Try and see if someone local on here will go with you to look at any potential cars if you're not sure what you are looking at. Also post up any links to cars you are looking at and you might find history on the car or the person selling that you might not otherwise find out. Good luck in finding what you're after. marc_p
Maybe a knackered gearbox mount
Si_s Supe
That would be most handy if there is anyone willing to come have another look with me? I live in Portsmouth and the car is in weybridge so anyone around those areas or en route?? The gearbox mount suggestion is a very good one as the noise seems to come from the centre of the car, but then I know noises like this can travel and be very deceptive!! Here's a link to the car, it's a fresh import so would be most impressed if anyone has any history on it!! Stevo
Maybe the clutch bearing or something?
Si_s Supe
I don't think it's that. Definately sounded like a metal on metal knocking through the chassis. Also, there seemed to be a slight flat spot low down, then picks up at about 2-2.5k revs. Normal or a sign it could do with some plugs and leads?? geordie82
could be so many things, could be something simple or could cost an arm and a leg to put right with so much choice i would walk away and wait for the right car to come along
HadeS
It can be cat cover or spring from clutch knocking around. There is loads of n/as for sale. Dont rush of buying one when you are not shure.
Si_s Supe
Well this one tempts me as I need to px my car and he's offering me a pretty good price. He's now agreed to get it sorted for me as part of the deal as well as repairing a cracked side skirt and repainting the bumper.

Dnk
£4750 for an NA Has it got any translated history to back the mileage up
neo2810
Hmmm... I recently bought a mint NA with about 90k ont he odo, new aftermarket exhaust and a front/skirt kit for £3,500 so I'd call the price slightly high for that. But, if you're comfortable paying that and will feel you got enough for your money, then go for it
HadeS
£4750 for an NA Is it NA-T? Looking at the price it should be
Supra Gaz
I paid £4500 for my n/a, but it is mint and has a genuine do-luck kit from sumo power and loads of new parts, loads of history and 4 new tyres on 19 inch wheels. If it's mint, it's worth it, buying a better one now will save you money in the long run!
