ozz
Spooky, was talking to a rep today who had an 06 A3, he was commenting on how he thought diesels were supposed to be improved now but his sounds like a bag of spanners.

Havard
Maybe it's just me but i wouldn't touch any modern VAG (vw audi group) cars. Anyone i know that has them says never again. Funny that. I have two on my drive and they are fabulous..... I've had a lot of cars but the Audi A3 I had last year and the two A4 S-lines we have now are great. Vicki is currently driving a 211Bhp 2.0T and it's a hoot to drive, not mega quick but lots of fun with the tiptronic box. I have the 143Bhp 2.0Tdi Avant and it looks the bollocks..!! Not saying they are all bad but the ones i've come across have went rattly after 5 - 6 years & turbos have giving trouble. Also a friend has a passat TDI & had to replace gearbox, lights always blowing, twice now it has been back because emissions warning signs keep lighting up. He also has a brand new transporter van & thats been back a few times with head gasket troubles & a couple of other things with the engine. I suppose your lucky or your not. Cheers, unfortunately we own neither as they are on lease, but our neighbours hate us anyway, especially with the Supe aswell..... I had a Passat sport four years ago and although it was a great looking car and super smooth on the motorway it had a number of faults in the first 6 months..... Also the boot kept opening on it's own leaving my laptop and golf clubs for all to see in the middle of Manchester.... My ex company had 4 on the fleet and they all had gearbox problems and a couple had their leases cancelled due to the problems. I am still yet to return an Audi to the dealer with a fault yet, maybe we have been lucky. Vicki had a BMW a couple of years ago and that had more faults/returns than the Audi. Goes without saying that the oldest and best car I have ever had is the Supra.... H.

marcAB10
My dad has had 2 A3s, 57plate blue s-sline 140 2l td and now a 59plate White 170 2l td and he has loved them both, I have driven the new 170 one of his and it was a great car to drive, great low down torque. My brother also has a gunmetal 57 plate 140 td and he seems to love the car too.

Rob
Yeah i think its a hit & a miss with modern cars. It was a miss for me, our older A6 petrol has 203,000 miles on its original clutch. We've just paid Audi £1200 for a new clutch and flywheel on a 43,000 mile 2.0 Tdi A6. Goddamn Dual Mass flywheel rubbish.

j_jza80
I hate A3s. I really like Audis on the whole but the newer A3s (2003 on) are very floored cars. Maybe the Petrol ones are better, but i've driven 4 different spec A3 TDIs now and the suspension setup on them is horrid. They've somehow managed to achieve a back breaking ride, with ridiculous amounts of body roll when pushing on, combined with very sudden understeer. The steering also feels completely numb, as do the brakes (although they actually work very well) They seem well built and they achieve decent MPG too, but other than that they have no redeeming features for me. Would much rather a Golf GT TDi. The image is as bad as a Subaru too, IMO.
Suprab1
How much IIRC about €17000 but he will drop to atleast €15000 i'd think. Its very clean just make sure the wheels have been refurbed as he told me they were getting them done about 2 weeks ago. Sure drive it & see what you think. Its worth a look anyway.
