How to find a boost leak

Whats the best method to find a boost leak , I found a crimped pipe which I replaced and the BOV Bung was shot so have a new bung on order.

If I have the hood up and rev the engine would u hear a boost leak? How would you diagnose, visual inspection?

Thanks, sorry tried searching but could not find anything :search:

Mines in at the moment for a boost leak check, they mentioned a gas test. Im not 100% on how they do it but my guess is to insert a t-piece that injects coloured gas so you can see it coming out.

I've also been told about using chalk dust on all the pipes and then you can see where its blowing (not tried or tested so wouldnt know)

You can get spray on chalk dust which is OK.

The best way is generally the bean can method or the tyre method. IIRC the bean can method will test just about everything, the tyre method is for intercooler pipes & the intercooler.

I haven't given it a go though so I can't be more specific. There are definitely lots of threads on here about these checks, hopefully giving you the funny names will help :D
