Shane
It's a shame as JAE used to be a great event, but after the mersea island move I lost interest myself and focused my energy and fun into Supra Pod. I think many others felt the same. I've not had any involvement with this, but as I see it out of 15 people that said they were going only 5 committed by paying for tickets? I'm not sure what's happened, but I can't see how the club is going to put a huge effort/funding behind something which the members themselves aren't demonstrating an interest in. Yes obviously any effort and funding has to be worthwhile and I think that would generally be accepted. Lets be honest and even if all of the 15 showed up it would have still been a poor turn out compared to previous years. Can't understand why this one has attracted so little interest and it just seems a real shame as it really is a massive event this year and I saw only 5 mkivs other than my own. Talking briefly to the guys there, I think what really came across was the lack of info surrounding the event and tickets right up until the 11th hour. What's also not helped, and I accept that by the time we confirmed to the organisers that we were going there was not a lot of choice, is that the plot we have is miles from anyone else and right out on a limb, very strange. We wondered though if the clubs in the many adjacent plots were still to show up and by tomorrow we might have a few neighbours. I guess also that unlike Pod, Peterboro or Rockingham there is no track action of any kind and that may have a bearing on the attraction factor for some. Pete
Sad times. 5 cars.. first one in 5 years I've not gone to. I kinda feel bad for not making the effort, (but I'm not sure why?) Shall we all make a vow right now to make sure we have a full on old fashioned JAE shindig next year? Can someone there paint a sign saying "Mkivsupra.net, work in progress...please revisit next year"
Branners
The problem is the event is a big one to organise if it has lots of members going. So we have to find somebody with the time to focus on it and then spend the weekend doing it. We are always happy for people to volunteer to run events, especially with the 10th Anniversary events next year looking like we have 1 per month. I think most people appreciate this and no-one expects a free lunch. I thnik it would be safe to say, that all the people I met today would have been happy to be involved in the organising of the weekend in one shape or another had they had known there was a problem. But, the thread seem to suggest that everything was in hand, Marquee, Organiser, Oil drum BBq, etc Anyhow, in the end Steve & Steve from Aristo took pity on us and let us join their stand which was really good of them and if they see this, thanks guys. Dave West
JAE was a great weekend, it was a pity our club let us down so badly. A big thank you to CLUB ARISTO for their hospitality and use of their marquee.
inazone
Just to echo everyone who was able to attend, a big thank you to the Aristo Club for coming to the rescue! It was great to meet new people and i hope to see you all soon at the next event. JAE as an event in my eyes is improving year on year, especially the trade stands. Not wanting to dwell too much on what didn’t happen, can any mod provide an explanation as to why we never had the Marque, Generator or BBQ as promised? I can understand if the final numbers didn’t warrant the club to spend the money; however what I cannot understand is why we were not told? I hope next year we get a more enthusiastic event’s organiser. Branners are you up for the challenge to reclaim the clubs trophy for best club in show? PJ
Fingers crossed we at Club Aristo will be there in greater numbers too next year. Most of the Club Aristo members that had planned on going had to bail either for personal reasons or had big singles conversions that weren't quite ready to get there or their cars that are still in the body shop and the like. Which was a crying shame as it would be nice to put up a big presence as we have some cracking members cars to display. Expect a greater turn out from us next year too as it was somewhat dissapointing, but I'm glad those members that were there made the most of it and shared what we had with the MKIV members in attendance

Branners
Branners are you up for the challenge to reclaim the clubs trophy for best club in show? in a word 'NO'. To be blunt if we had put in £1000 to run the event (which is what a marquee, BBQ, fridges etc would cost) and 10 members rolled up then we may as well have paid 10 members £100 each and let them widdle it up the wall. Two events organisers had offered to arrange everything, with one doing the before hand stuff and the other running it over the weekend. I kept out of it as I had Pod to sort out and thats the one big event I do each year. I realised too late that it was not going to plan but couldnt pull it back on track. The marquee chap called me on the Friday to say if we wanted a marquee he would need paying the £400 in cash before he put it up. I was sat in my office near Tower Bridge so there was no way that could happen. I also chased down the tickets for the event on the Saturday before hand as that had not happened either but the tickets didnt arrive with me until the Thursday so I could not send them out. If members want big events organised then you all need to help out. I have had a couple of offers of help now, but with 2011 looking like a big event every month we need all the help we can get. If people roll up expecting a fully laid on event with everything catered for then it generally is not going to happen unless everybody helps put in to it. This may all seem a touch blunt but I see people moaning that the 'club let them down' and 'events this year have been pretty poor'. People like Lui and Nevins are putting in a LOT of time to give you events that everybody can enjoy and some people just complain that it wasnt good enough. I will arrange refunds for those who bought tickets before hand, and to them I must apologise for the screw up.
inazone
The part where the club let us down was on the communication!!! If we had known there wasn’t going to be a Marque or BBQ or Generator we could have prepared ourselves for that situation, as I am happy to self cater as I enjoy camping. Unfortunately i did not have the right equipment with me hence the moan? Going forward and looking towards next year can we make a more conscious effort in organising JAE, as it seems to be a last minute thing after all the other events that have taken place? After all JAE is the biggest Japanese Event of the year and it would be great to have a good showing of MkIV Supra's there. If event’s organisers need a hand in sorting things out, I for one would be happy to help, and I know there are many others out there who would also lend a hand? My only problem is that I do not understand how this club runs and functions? Do we have a club constitution and do we have AGM’s?

Thanks and I think that's a pretty fair response and I can confirm that Lui in particular goes out of his way to get things right in the events I have come along to in the past few years. No-one would question that this year's JAE would not even have begun to break even with the small amount of members that attended and of course £400 for the Marquee alone would have been a waste of money for us 5. It seems in this instance it was just a bad combination of events and unfortunate timing re the tickets not turning up and the marquee and then the few who did turn up not knowing what was going on. Despite all this, I had a really good time, met some new faces and was there for each of the three days and thought it was a great show that I am glad I didn't miss. We are getting a refund for our original tickets so no drama there, let's just move on and maybe next year will be a good club event, amongst many it seems. I for one am now looking forward to Jap finale in a few weeks time and hoping the weather turns out good for us. See you all there I hope.
