Guest 1.5jz
Hey just looking for feedback on the above, basically I purchased turbo for 2.5L 1jz years back with .70a/r divided exhaust housing however it's now changed to a 1.5jz 87mm pistons and rebuilt head with 264 cams to keep things short. I'll need to choose a new a/r and would like to see what other's have fitted and how car is used:search:. I'm willing to sacrifice top end as car would be 99% road use and would prefer to see it spirited in mid range....It's being fitted to a Soarer for now. Read this on an old post.. The HKS T-04Z kit for the Supra comes with a divided A/R 1.00 housing.
shima60
I use a .86 on mine granted its a t04r so not DBB but close enough lol. You will see spool a bit quicker than me. an a/r of 1.00 will see later spool and more power higher up the rpm. Smaller exhaust housing will see earlier spool but run out of puff quicker. Good thing about the To4z is thats is quite effective at most rpms
Hoppy
The HKS T04Z on my Supra has a divided A/R 1.00 housing. Starts spooling at just over 2k and hits full boost at around 4k. I find it very usable on the street also.

I'm out to avoid this effect I'd imagine the .70 would lead to early-sudden-awkward release and be I'd be completly smothered soon after as I desperatly pull tru gears...or is that a tad dramatic view? " Sounds very positive I'd been guessing towards a 1.0 but didn't want to commit to I'll had some feedback... If those using a 1.0 on the road had to move up or down in a/r I wonder what way you'd call it?
Hoppy
Well if smaller A/R = quicker spool, the smaller AR would be the way to go for street use, i would say. Nobody want's a lag monster on the road!!
