Josh
I'm 21 and looking for a TT6 Supra. I got a quote a few months ago of about £1300 for a years insurance but I can't remember who this was with. Checking tonight I can't get a quote below £4000. This is with Admiral, Directline, Aviva, Confused.com and Gocompare. I am putting details in to say I do less than 4000 miles a year and it's kept in a locked garage and is for social use only. I also live in a decent area, no crime that I'm aware of round here. Anyone with the same details as me getting any better quotes and if so who are you with? Thanks Josh
Attero
Try Adrian Flux and Sky. The ones you are looking on are crap.
Josh
Try Adrian Flux and Sky. The ones you are looking on are crap. I'm sure I've seen Sky will only insure you if you're 23 or over and have had experience with driving RWD cars... at the moment I'm driving a Golf mk5 1.9 tdi (remapped ) but I'll try and speak to them. James
I was £955 for a 1993 TT import at 21 with 3 years driving and 3 years NCB. Now 22 with 4 years driving, 1 year NCB and a claim. £710. Insurance is whacko! That's with Admiral, Bell, Elephant etc. All similar.

I've been driving for 4 years and have 2 years no claims and still can't get below £4000 even with Admiral, which I've heard are good with prices. marcAB10
Have you tries Adrian flux? I always think it's best to call an insurance company instead of just looking online.

No, I've not tried them yet, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. I wonder why my quotes have gone up nearly £3000 in the space of a few months as my details are exactly the same. Homer
Has your postcode changed? That's one thing that will make a massive difference to insurance quotes. The quote at my current home in Reading nearly 3 times that of my future home in Gloucester (despite the new place being in a "worse" area)

The quote at my current home in Reading nearly 3 times that of my future home in Gloucester (despite the new place being in a "worse" area) Nope, I've lived here for 13 years so it's all the same. It's a nice area and it would be kept in a locked garage, would only be used for social (and just for fun) trips and would do less than 4000 miles a year. I think calling them may be the best option
redtwinturbo
I've noticed this too. Previous quotes for a TT manual were sub £1k a few months ago. No change in circumstances (apart from an extra years no-claims) and now the quotes are nearer £1600-£2000!! Again thats not calling Sky/Flux but still I was shocked. stinboy
Be careful with Adrian Flux - they are brokers not the underwriter. I have had a very very very bad experience with one of their preferred insurance co's.
caseys
Sure you weren't getting quotes for a UK spec TT6 then now you may have a license plate number of one in mind you're getting JDM priced quotes?
Stonkin
I would try a-plan and sky mate

I'm with NIG - Adrian Flux.
martini
I'm with Equity Red Star (via Adrian Flux) - got a good price. Always phone, never bother with online quotes.
Purity14
Equity Red Star via Flux gave me a good deal too.
Josh
Yeah I checked previously and am pretty sure it was a J-spec but it could have been an UK-spec. I'll try ringing around at some point, there's no rush though as I'm not getting the car until the end of this year/start of next year. Cheers for your input guys! heartworm
Have you ever had an accident? I was £1600 at 21 for my first year, in a quiet area in Scotland no accidents. That was 4 years ago.

I'm going to get ripped for this, but; I was crashed into on a single lane leading to a driving range (golf) which wasn't my fault, idiot farmer driving too fast on a gravel track. This was about 3 or more years ago and it was found to be farmer Giles' fault and his insurance paid up in full. Now my second crash is embarrassing. I was driving to work, which is only 5 minutes away on foot because it was 8:55 and I wanted a cigarette first. I was driving with a steamed up windscreen and hit a big red, parked Sky van 4 houses away from mine. I still get the piss taken out of me for this and that was nearly 3 years ago. This, I'm afraid was my fault and cost me £1000 having to pay my excess.

That's probably having an impact, insurance companies take any excuse from years back to screw you over
